excellent choice.The high-quality speakers producedby MAGNAT arerenowned allover theworld.

Please study theinstructions and information belowcarefully beforeusing yournew loudspeakers.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT CONNECTING YOUR MAGNAT QUANTUM 1000 LOUDSPEAKERS

Warning

: Only hi-fi amplifier loudspeaker outputs may be connected to the Quantum 1000 loudspeaker terminal.

Please always use a good quality loudspeaker connection cable from an audio dealer. To prevent impairment of sound

quality, we recommend cableswith cross-sections ofat least 2.5 mm² forlengths up to3 m andat least 4mm² for lengths

above 3m.

Alwaysturn off theamplifieror receiverbeforeconnectingor disconnectingloudspeakercables.Place theloudspeakersin

their planned positions and cut the cables to the right length. The cables for both channels should always be exactly the

same length.

For good sound it is imperative that the cables must be connected in such a way that the speakers are “in phase”. This

meansthattheblacknegativeterminalsonthespeakers(-)mustbeconnectedtothenegative(-)terminalsontheamplifier,

the red positive (+) speakerterminals to the positive(+) amplifier terminals.To make this easierone wire of most speaker

cables is markedwith a coloured stripor aridge inthe insulation.

The Quantum1000 terminal isdesigned for 3 cordsets:

Connection via bananaplugs (fig. 1a)

Connection via clevistype fittings (fig. 1b)

Non-ready-made (fig. 1c):

Strip 10 – 15 mm of insulation from the ends of non-ready-made cables. Twist the ends – this is much better than tinning

them withsolder – insertthem in the terminalsand tightenthe terminalscrews firmly.

Before switching on the system double-check all your connections and make sure that the terminal screws are tight and

that thereare noshort circuits caused by straywire filaments – this couldcause serious damage toyour amplifier!

THE MAGNAT QUANTUM 1000 LOUDSPEAKERS IN STEREO MODE

Inthe idealconfigurationthe speakersandthe listeningpositionshould formanequilateral triangle.Whenthe left andright

speakersarethe samedistance fromthe listeningpositiontheirsoundarrives atthe sametime, resultingin aharmonious,

natural musicreproduction. (Fig. 2)

Thereshouldbeaclearlineofsightbetweentheloudspeakersandthelisteningposition.Anysound-absorbingorreflecting

obstaclesinthepathwilldistortthesound.Whenyouinstalltheloudspeakersthefollowingdistancesshouldbemaintained:

at least 20cm away fromthe rear walland at least30 cm fromthe side walls. Thiswill prevent excessiveemphasis of the

bass range.

SPIKES (QUANTUM 1009 / 1005)

You should use thesupplied spikes.The spikes are height-adjustable and possessa counternut.

Any irregularities in the floor may be offset and a firm stand may be achieved with the spikes. They also decouple the

loudspeakers from thebase so that anyundesirable resonanceis avoided.

The spikes must be screwed into the threaded sleeves at the bottom of the box when the hard rubber feet have been

removed.

In orderto preventthe floor from beingdamaged, you shouldget helpfrom someone to tiltthe box slightly whenfitting the

spikes.

First, screw in two spikes next to each other and – before setting the box down – put the corresponding washers (rubber

facing down) inplace. Then attach the twoopposite spikesand loweraccordingly.

Then align thebox vertically and counterthe spikes.
