• Shuffle the Wolves tile and 6 randomly drawn Places tiles.
Place them in a circle face-up as shown in the illustration
above (A). Set aside the three remaining round tiles, they
will be used later in the game. The White Pebbles tokens are
placed in the middle of the circle.
• Flip the box’s “drawer” in order to set up the path (B), which
is divided into three sections each separated by a river. The
Lantern pawn is placed on the first space of the first section
of the path (green space). The cottage is the last space of
the path.
• Stack the Ogre tiles face down, in order, with their numbers
showing (tile 1 at the top of the pile; tile 6 on the bottom). The
Tall Tree and Seven League Boots tokens are placed next to
the path (C).
• Remove from the Places card deck the three places which
are missing from the tile circle. Then shuffle that deck, which
will now be called the “Travel deck” (D) and hand it to the
oldest player, who will be the Guide at the beginning of the
game.
