Triangles
Si une charge ou une force est appliquée sur l’un des côtés du triangle, ce côté pliera vers l’intérieur.
Cependant, si une charge ou une force est appliquée à l’un des angles, le triangle ne plie pas parce que les
deux côtés sont comprimés et que la base est étirée. Les forces sont distribuées sur la structure entière et
non seulement sur une partie. En utilisant le triangle adéquatement, c’est la forme la plus stable et la plus
rigide pouvant être incorporée à une structure.
Les arches
Les arches ont été utilisées dans les structures depuis des milliers d’années. Plusieurs pont à arches et
aqueducs construits par les Romains sont toujours utilisés de nos jours, faisant foi de leur solidité.
