4. Pull the release lever and push down the twist-lever, exerting
moderate force until it can be felt to reach the end of its travel
(Fig. 3).
5. Pour 0.7 litres of water into a container and completely dissolve
the contents of a blister pack (2 tablets).
6. Now pour this solution into the water tank.
7. Position a vessel of the required capacity under the swivelling
water and steam outlet spout.
Procedure
8. Set the selector to the ‘Water position’ ( ) position.
9. Turn the tapping switch ( ) on.
10. Turn the main switch ( ) on and draw off approx. 125 ml (1 large
cup) from the contents of the tank.
11. Turn the main switch ( ) off and allow the decalcifying solution to
work for approx. 10 minutes.
12. Repeat Steps 10 and 11.
13. Empty the vessel and reposition under the height-adjust able
coffee spout.
14. Set the selector to the ‘Coffee position’ ( ) position.
15. Turn the main switch ( ) on and draw off approx. 150 ml of the
contents of the tank.
16. Turn the main switch ( ) off and allow the decalcifying solution to
work for approx. 10 minutes.
17. Repeat Steps 15 and 16 twice.
18. Empty the vessel and reposition under the height-adjust able
coffee spout.
Rinsing after decalcification
19. Rinse the tank thoroughly, refill with fresh water from the mains
supply and replace.
20. Turn the main switch ( ) on and heat approx. 200 ml of water.
21. Turn the tapping switch off and wait until the heating control
lamp ( ) goes out.
22. Turn the tapping switch ( ) on again and draw off 1/2 of the con-
tents of the tank.
23. Turn the tapping switch ( ) off again.
24. Empty the vessel and reposition under the height-adjust able
coffee spout.
25. Unlock the twist-lever, and pull up. Then turn the cover back into
its initial position (Fig. 6).
26. Set the selector to the ‘Water position’ ( ).
27. Turn the tapping switch ( ) on and draw off the rest of the con-
tents of the tank.
28. Turn the main switch ( ) off and set the selector to the ‘Coffee
position’ ( ).
29. Drain the residual water tray and the grounds container and
replace.
30. Fill the water tank with fresh water from the mains sup ply and
replace.
11. Replacing the CLARIS plus filter cartridge
Ⅲ Swing the cartridge retaining clip up and fit the filter cartridge into
the water tank, exerting light pressure only.
Ⅲ Swing the cartridge retaining clip back down, until it can be heard
clicking into position.
