CLEANING AND CARE
Cleaning the cassette drive
To ensure the recording and playback quality, clean parts A, B and C in the
cassette drive an average of once per month.
Press on the / (19) button to open the cassette compartment.
Press the button (15) and clean the rubber pinch control C.
Press the button (20) and clean the magnet heads A and the shaft B. Use
a clean cloth or cotton swab which is moistened with pure alcohol (Isopropyl
alcohol).
After cleaning, press the / button (19) and close the cassette compartment.
Wait until the cleaned areas are completely dry before you insert a cassette again.
Note: A special cleaning cassette can be used for the tape heads.
Handling cassettes
Keep a large distance between cassettes and magnets or electromagnets. These can be located in motors
as well as speakers, televisions, amplifiers, power devices and transformers in general.
Do not expose the cassettes to high heat, extreme cold or humidity.
Keep the cassettes protected from dust in their case.
The longer the playing time of the cassette (60, 90, 120 minutes) the thinner the band and therefore the
more sensitive it is to mechanical stress.
Compact Disc
Wipe off fingerprints and dust thoroughly with a soft cloth. Wipe from the centre to the edge (not circular).
Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
Do not write on CDs. Do not put any stickers on it.
Protect your CDs against dust and scratches. Always keep it, therefore, in its case when not in use.
Remove the CD from its case by pressing on the middle of the holder and then touching the edges only of
the CD.
Cleaning the housing
Pull the plug out of the wall outlet before every cleaning.
Remove dust with a soft dusting cloth.
Do not use a wet sponge, wax, spray polishes, or abrasives.
Caution: No water must reach the housing. If so, unplug the power cord and let the device dry thoroughly
before operating it again. Please do not dry the device in an oven or microwave oven.
