3. Close to the ends of the hair section, rotate your wrist so the InStyler’s brush is turn-

ing in towards your face (see illustration 8). Allow the barrel to rotate in the ends

of the hair for 3 to 5 seconds, before releasing the hair.

Soft curls

1. You may nd this curling technique easier after removing the thermal guard.

Remember to be careful to avoid burning your face or scalp (see “How to use

your thermal guard”)

2. Wrap a section of hair around your InStyler’s barrel from the roots to the ends

(caution: take care not to burn your ngers). The side of the barrel should be fac-

ing towards your scalp (see illustration 9).

3. Close the InStyler on the section of hair. Lightly rotate your wrist to ensure that the

ends of your hair have also been included in the InStyler.

4. Let the InStyler rotate for 5 to 10 seconds on the section of hair, then, carefully

open the appliance and allow the hair to fall down from the barrel. (see

illustration 10)

5. You will achieve tighter, more dened curls if you keep the InStyler rotating for a

little bit longer than 5 to 10 seconds. Let your hair cool down completely before

separating it with your ngers.

Volume boost

To achieve more body and volume, you can try the following technique, known as

“on base styling” (styling at the roots):

1. Wrap a section of hair around the barrel, working downwards until you reach

the hair root.

2. Place the InStyler barrel directly above the roots and close the appliance. Allow

the barrel to rotate for a few seconds (see illustration 11).

3. Open the InStyler and release the hair from the barrel (see illustrations 12 and

13). Do not run your ngers or a comb through your freshly styled sections until

you hair feels completely cool to the touch. This technique can be used whenever

you want to achieve a large amount of extra volume.

More advanced styling tips

Getting extra body and volume with your InStyler:

• Close the InStyler on a section of hair taken from the crown of the head and work

the appliance in a forward motion towards your forehead.

• To boost volume on the sides and back of the head, gather a section of hair

and work the InStyler upwards towards the crown of the head. Finally, glide the

InStyler through the ends of the section of hair. This technique gives the roots extra

volume and makes the hair appear fuller. You can use this technique anywhere
