My Viking 500 is not letting me adjust the length of the str : 10834

My Viking 500 is not letting me adjust the length of the straight stitch. I have tried changing the pressure of the foot feed with no result still only does the tiny stitches. I can select any decorative stitch and it will still perform with the tiny stitch . I have chosen length 3,4,5 6 and still it does not get longer, just a tiny straight stitch with good tension
