Stretch the ear canal by pulling the middle of the outer ear to the back and
up at the same time. In case of children below the age of one year, pull the
outer ear to the back only.
Carefully insert the thermometer tip into the ear canal until you feel a slight
resistance.
Press the SCAN button to start measurement. At the beginning of
measurement a brief tone sounds.
During the duration of the measurement, the LED over the SCAN button is
lit. The ear measurement takes one second. When the measurement is
finished, a long tone is sounded and the measuring result is displayed.
Please clean the thermometer tip directly after the measurement using the
cleaning swabs enclosed.
The thermometer symbol will appear three seconds after the measurement, and the device is
ready for the next measurement.
Important information for ear measurement:
䊏 If earwax accumulates on the measuring sensor, this may lead to inaccuracies of the temperature
measurement or may even cause an infection between various users. For this reason, it is
imperative that the measuring sensor is cleaned for every measurement. For notes on cleaning,
please read the instructions in Chapter “Cleaning and maintenance of the device”.
䊏 After cleaning the measuring sensor with alcohol-impregnated swabs, please wait for 5 minutes
until carrying out the next measurement to permit the thermometer to reach the necessary
operating temperature.
䊏 The temperature values may vary from ear to ear. For this reason, please always use the same ear

measurement can be used for the measurement of your own body temperature (self-measurement)
as well as for the measurement of the body temperature of another person (foreign measurement).
1. Before starting the measurement, the device has to be switched on. For this reason, press the
ON/OFF button (O/I). All symbols will be shown on the display for two seconds.
2. The device displays the temperature measured last for three seconds. At the same time you will
see a symbol in the display indicating whether an ear measurement or a forehead
measurement has been carried out.
3. Subsequently the temperature display will disappear and the thermometer symbol will be
faded in. Now the device is ready for measurement:
Important information to prevent inaccurate measured values:
䊏 Please observe that the clinical thermometer and the person to be measured are in a room at
room temperature for at least 30 minutes prior to the measurement.
䊏 In order to obtain the highest of accuracy in successive measurements, please wait for 30 seconds
between two measurements.
䊏 After sleeping, it is recommended to wait for a few minutes before measuring the temperature.
䊏 Do not measure temperature directly after showering, swimming, et cetera, when the ears or the
forehead are wet.
䊏 Avoid eating, drinking or exercising prior to the measurement.
䊏 Do not measure the temperature during or directly after breast feeding a baby.
䊏 Remove the measuring device from the measuring area only after the end signal has been
sounded and the LED lamp is no longer lit.
䊏 In the following situations, we recommend to carry out three temperature measurements and to
consider the highest value as measuring result:
䊏 Children below the age of three with a weak immune system (in particular, if the presence or
absence of fever is significant).
䊏 In case of users, who are not familiar with the device, until they receive identical measured
values.
䊏 In case of suspiciously low measured values.
7.1 Ear measurement
The measurement can be carried out in the right-hand or left-hand ear. The thermometer measures
the infrared rays emitted by the eardrum and the ear canal. These rays are picked up by the sensor
and converted into temperature values. The best values are obtained when the infrared rays are
picked up from the middle ear (eardrum). Rays which are emitted from surrounding tissue produce
lower measured values.
If the cap for forehead measurement has been placed, please remove it by simply pulling it. For
better grip, both sides of the cap have been provided with rough surfaces.
