The thermometer symbol will appear three seconds after the measurement, and the device is
ready for the next measurement.
Important information for forehead measurement:
䊏 We recommend to measure the temperature at the same position every time as otherwise the
displayed values may vary.
䊏 Remove hair, perspiration, cosmetics or dirt from the forehead to ensure an optimum
measurement accuracy.
Switching over from ear to forehead measurement (or vice versa) is effected automatically by means
of a contact sensor in the thermometer tip. The thermometer recognizes automatically which mode is
operational.
8. Cleaning and maintenance of the device
The measuring sensor is the most important and most sensitive part of the device. In order to ensure
most precise measurements, it always has to be clean and intact.
Clean the measuring tip and the sensor exclusively with the Soft-Zellin alcohol swabs supplied along
with the device or with a soft moist cloth or with 70 percent alcohol (isopropanol). Residues from
earwax can be removed carefully using cotton buds. Please do not use any aggressive cleaning
agents or solvents as they may damage the device and could make the display intransparent. Please
make sure that no fluid can penetrate the interior of the thermometer. To protect it from external
influences keep the thermometer in the storage box.
9. Power supply and disposal notes
9.1 Batteries and disposal
䊏 The two high-quality batteries included with the device guarantee at least 1,000 measurements.
Use only high-quality batteries (see specification in Chapter “Technical data”).
䊏 If you are using less efficient batteries, we can no longer guarantee 1,000 measurements.
䊏 Never mix old and new batteries or batteries made by different manufacturers.
䊏 Immediately remove exhausted batteries.
䊏 If you do not intend to use the device for a longer period of time, you should remove the batteries
to prevent possible leakage.
䊏 Please help protect the environment: Do not dispose of batteries in household waste! Use
designated collection points or municipal collection / recycling centres to dispose of hazardous
household waste.
This symbol on products and/or accompanying documents means that spent electronic
products must not be mixed with regular household waste.
9.2 Battery replacement
This device has been provided with two alkaline batteries of LR03 (AAA) type. Please replace spent

for measuring the temperature.
䊏 No disposable protective caps are required for the measuring sensor. Please do not use disposable
protective caps as they may distort the measuring result.
䊏 If you have rested on an ear, the temperature in this ear may be elevated shortly after.
䊏 The measurement must not be carried out in an ear which is suffering from inflammatory diseases
as well as after ear injuries (such as eardrum injury) or during the healing phase after a surgical
procedure. If medication has been applied to an ear, this ear must not be used for measurement
either. In these cases, please consult your attending doctor.
7.2 Forehead measurement
The thermometer measures the infrared radiation emitted by the skin in the forehead and temple
area and the surrounding tissue. The radiation is picked up by the sensor and converted into
temperature values. The most precise values are obtained when you scan the area over the eyebrows
towards the temple.
If the cap for forehead measurement has not been placed, please place it by simply pressing it on
again.
Position the surface of the forehead adapter about 1 cm over the middle of
the eyebrows.
Press the SCAN button to start measurement. At the beginning of
measurement a brief tone sounds.
Move the thermometer along the forehead towards the temple. During the
duration of the measurement, the LED lamp over the SCAN button is lit. At
the end of measurement, a long tone is sounded and the measuring result
is displayed. The forehead measurement takes three seconds.
