ment, knives or devices with an open
ame such as a candle. The thermal
insulation and the interior are scratch
and heat-sensitive and can melt.
Preparation
At least 3 hours before cleaning, turn the
temperature controller (11) to ‘6’.
This way, the frozen food gets a cold re-
serve and does not thaw so fast.
Defrosting
If possible, defrost the appliance in
winter when the outside temperature
is low. You can then store the food on the
balcony (or similar) while defrosting.
Alternatively, you can wrap up the frozen food
in a thick layer of newspaper and store it in a
cool room or insulated bag.
1. Set the temperature controller (11) to
‘OFF’.
2. Disconnect the mains plug from the
socket.
3. Remove the frozen food and ensure that
your food stays adequately cooled.
4. Remove the freezer baskets (3). Clean
them with warm, fresh water.
5. Unscrew the inner and outer stopper for
the condensate drain.
6. Place a bowl or cloth in front of the con-
densate drain to catch any emerging
water.
7. Place a bowl of hot, but not boiling, water
in the freezer. This will accelerate the de-
frosting process.
8. Carefully scrape off any stubborn ice with
the ice scraper (d).
9. Leave the lid open during defrosting. The
defrosting time depends on the thickness
of the ice layer. Experience dictates that it
is possible to start cleaning after approx.
1 hour.
Cleaning
1. Wipe the interior with warm rinsing water.
2. When wiping clean, add a few drops of
vinegar to the water to prevent mould
from forming.
3. Only clean the door seal with clean
water; it is sensitive to oil and fat.
4. Rub everything completely dry, in-
cluding the door seal, and allow to air
briefly.
5. Screw the stoppers for the conden-
sate drain back in.
6. Re-insert the freezer baskets and
put food back in the freezer compartment.
7. Plug the mains plug back into the
socket and turn the temperature controller
to level ‘6’.
8. As soon as a temperature of –18 °C
has been reached, turn the temperature
controller back to the usual position.
