Operation Codebreaker
An exciting adventure for 2-4 language detectives ages 5-99.
Author: Andrea Lehmkühler
Illustrator: Nikolai Renger
Length of the game: 20-30 minutes
No mystery remains unsolved when the four amateur detectives, Lisa, Tim, Claire and Flynn
are on the case. They love to discuss their observations in their secret headquarters in the old
castle ruins. One day they were amazed to discover that there was a brand new safe in the old
building! Who hid it there? And what do the four symbols on the door mean? Their razor-
sharp intellects tell them that these are clues for the safe combination. Each clue corresponds
to the woods, city, beach and museum. The four friends decide to search for these symbols to
solve the mystery of and to discover the code to open the safe.
Help Lisa, Tim, Claire and Flynn crack the clues. The player who cleverly and correctly breaks
down the different parts of the city into syllables will discover the combination numbers for the
safe. Who will be the first code breaker to solve the mystery?
Contents
1 game board, 4 playing pieces, 20 woods picture cards, 20 city picture cards, 20 beach
picture cards, 20 museum picture cards, 10 number chips, 4 safe chips, 1 syllable die,
1 set of game instructions
Preparation
Place the game board in the middle of the table. Sort the 80 picture cards according to the
symbols on the back of the cards. Shuffle each of the four stacks thoroughly and place them

Place all of the number chips face down and mix them up. Then place a number chip face
down on each of the four clues on the game board. Place the rest of the number chips back
into the box face down.

Each player selects a playing piece and places it on the secret headquarters in the center of the
board. Extra playing pieces are placed back into the box.
