Programme types (PTY)
Many broadcasters offer the programme type service (PTY) in the
FM range. For example, during a news flash, the programme type
identification NEWS is broadcast. Using the PTY function it is
possible to tune automatically to a station which is offering a pre-
selected programme type, e.g. POP M. The programme types a
radio station offers may change according to the programme being
broadcast.
