Bread and baked items in toasters can catch re. For this reason, do not place the
toaster in the vicinity of or under ammable objects (e.g. curtains).
Food that is too large, metal foil packaging or utensils must not be placed inside the
toaster because they may cause re or an electric shock.
Do not cover the toasting slots, either with bread rolls or bread slices, or with other
objects such as cutlery.
Only use suitable baked items in the toaster. Do not toast any bread or pastries that
are buttered or covered with other spreads or toppings.
Only use the device with the crumb tray and empty it regularly.
Make sure that the toaster can switch off after the toasting process. Obstacles may
be presented by objects that block the lowering lever, or by baked items which are
too large in the toasting slots.
Remove the mains plug from the socket and allow the device to cool down if obsta-
cles occur during toasting. Then remove anything that may be stuck in the toasting
slot by moving the lowering lever up and down a few times.
Do not use any knives, forks or other metallic objects to handle the toasting slots.
Do not attempt to extract food from the toaster while it is in operation.
Be careful when taking out the bread after toasting in order to prevent burns.
Never toast bread with the bread roll attachment placed on. You could burn yourself
when removing the bread.
The highest level of toasting is only designed to be used with dark types of bread!
With a piece of conventional wheat toast or thick slices, burning and the develop-
ment of smoke may result. In this case, abort the toasting process immediately by
pressing the
CANCEL button.
The extent of browning depends greatly on the type, the freshness and the composition
of the bread which is used. An increased protein, sugar or calcium content, for example,
leads to stronger browning, whilst fats and preservatives reduce it. Initially, depending
on your own personal taste and the bread, you should start with a low toasting setting
and increase it in stages until you get an optimum level of browning that you are happy
with.
1. If you have not already done so, place the toaster on a dry, at, solid and heat-
resistant surface and plug the mains plug into a properly installed plug socket.
2. Insert a slice of bread into each of the toasting slots. Do not use slices which are too
thick. The bread must not become wedged.
3. Set the desired level of toasting using the rotary knob. The toasting level can be set
between 1 = very light toasting / light browning and 7 = very strong toasting / very
heavy browning.
If you use the device over a prolonged period, the slices which are put into the
device later on will be darker than the rst slices when the same toasting setting
is used.
4. Press down the lowering lever until it engages audibly. (The lowering lever only en-
gages if the device is connected to a plug socket.) The bread is lowered and centred.
