TCP
Transmission Control Protocol. TCP gehört zur TCP/IP-Protokollfamilie. TCP wickelt den
Datentransport zwischen zwei Kommunikationspartnern (Anwendungen) ab. Es han-
delt sich bei TCP um ein gesichertes Übertragungsprotokoll, das heißt, zur Datenüber-
tragung wird eine Verbindung aufgebaut, überwacht und wieder abgebaut.
TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. Protokoll-Familie, auf der das Internet
basiert. IP bildet die Grundlage jeder Verbindung von PC zu PC. TCP stellt den Anwen-
dungen eine zuverlässige Übertragungsverbindung in Form eines kontinuierlichen
Datenstroms zur Verfügung. TCP/IP ist die Basis, auf der Dienste wie WWW, Mail und
News aufbauen. Dazu gibt es noch weitere Protokolle. Um mit einem PC ins Internet
gehen zu können, muss TCP/IP an dem PC eingerichtet sein.
UDP
User Datagram Protocol
UDP ist ein Protokoll der TCP/IP-Protokoll-Familie, das den Datentransport zwischen zwei
Kommunikationspartnern (Anwendungen) abwickelt. Im Gegensatz zu TCP handelt es
sich bei UDP um ein ungesichertes Protokoll. UDP baut keine feste Verbindung auf. Der
Empfänger ist alleine dafür verantwortlich, dass er die Daten erhält. Der Absender erhält
darüber keine Benachrichtigung.
Uplink
Daten, die Ihr Gigaset SX682 WiMAX von Ihrem PC bzw. Ihrem lokalen Netzwerk nach
außen (z. B. ins Internet) weiterleitet.
URL
Universal Resource Locator. Global eindeutige Adresse einer Domain im Internet, z. B.
http://www.sagem-communications.com.
Virtueller Server
Ein virtueller Server stellt einen Dienst im Internet bereit, der nicht auf ihm selbst, son-
dern auf einer anderen Netzwerkkomponente läuft. Das Gigaset SX682 WiMAX kann als
virtueller Server konfiguriert werden. Er leitet dann von außen kommende Anfragen an
einen Dienst über Port-Weiterleitung direkt an den passenden Port der betreffenden
Netzwerkkomponente im lokalen Netzwerk weiter.
VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol; Sprachübertragung über das Internet (Internet-Telefonie).
WAN
Wide Area Network. Ein WAN ist ein Weitverkehrsnetzwerk, welches nicht auf ein räum-
lich begrenztes Gebiet beschränkt ist, z. B. das Internet. Ein WAN wird von einem oder
mehreren öffentlichen Anbietern betrieben, die privaten Nutzern den Zugang ermögli-
chen. Zugang zum Internet erhalten Sie über einen Provider.
