7. Replace the battery cover and fix the battery cover with the screw. However,
do not use violence when turning the screw to avoid damage. The appliance is
now ready for operation on battery.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
WARNING: Risk of Explosion! Operation on battery is safe with some basic
precautions taken into consideration, as with any other battery operated device.
Do not attempt to charge the battery by any foreign charging device not
recommended by the manufacturer. Only proceed as follows to avoid risk of
explosion and severe injuries and damage due to explosion of the battery. It the
battery cannot be charged by the procedure described below, the battery is pro-
bably damaged or exhausted and must be replaced. Always replace exhausted
batteries immediately to avoid risk of injuries and consequential damage due
to harmful and corrosive substances within the battery (see above).
Charging the battery is done via the appliance. With the battery installed correctly
within the appliance, simply connect the appliance to the external (mains) power
supply. You have to reckon on a charging time of approx. 3 hours.
SOLVING PROBLEMS
If any problems occur during operation, you will find solutions in this section.
Problem Possible Reason The Solution
Emergency stop? Press the “Power” button and unplug the appliance
from the mains power supply.
Some time after operation the LCD
display is dark and the appliance
does not react.
For saving energy the appliance
switches off automatically when
idle for more than 10 minutes.
Simply press the “Power” button to re-assume ope-
ration.
The power supply failed.
Operation via the mains power supply:
check, if the power outlet used is live, by connecting
a lamp.
Operation on battery: check the charging state
of the battery. Charge the battery in time. Check,
whether the battery is undamaged and installed
correctly (see: “Operation on Battery”). Replace the
battery, if required.
The power cord is not plugged in
correctly.
Ensure that the power plug and the plug at the rear
of the appliance are inserted correctly.
