NOTE
The water should flow in a strong and stable jet. If not, repeat steps 4 to 8.
9. Wait until the steam wand cooled down. Then thoroughly wipe the tube of the
steam wand using a soft cloth and clear water.
10. Re-place the black sleeve. Turn the steam wand over the drip tray or into a ves-
sel, when it is not in use.
CLEANING THE FILTER BASKET AND PORTAFILTER
1. Rinse the filter basket and portafilter with hot water after each coffee making
session to remove all residues of coffee grinds and oils. For this, you may use
the hot water function of the appliance (see: ‘Operation / Hot Water’).
2. If the holes in the filter basket became blocked, soak the filter basket and porta-
filter in hot dishwater for approx. 20 minutes.
3. After soaking, brush the mesh via a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly with clear water.
CLEANING THE GROUP HEAD
After each coffee making session we recommend to run water through the group
head via the extraction function but without any coffee powder, to rinse out residual
coffee particles. When the machine is ready for operation, simply press the espres-
so button and let the machine operate for some seconds. You may place a suitable
vessel under the group head or let the water drip into the drip tray.
If the machine will not be used for an elongated time, you should clean the splash
screen and the sealing ring of the group head to avoid that residues of coffee grinds
dry on these parts.
NOTE
The sealing ring of the group head lays around the splash screen at the bottom of
the group head. With residues of coffee powder sticking to the sealing ring, the
portafilter cannot be installed leak-free at the group head and the hot water runs
out at the rim of the portafilter. For checking the splash screen and sealing ring,
we recommend to hold a small mirror under the group head.
CAUTION – Do not poke with any hard or sharp-edged objects in the group
head to avoid damage.
