PREPARATIONS
CAUTION – If you wish to cook your food in foil packs, always use high
quality thick aluminium foil suited for grilling. Do not use plastic foil (e.g. cling
film or microwave foil) or thin aluminium foil (e.g. for food storage and usage in
an oven; see: ‘Tips for Best Results’).
1. Prepare your food. Remove all inedible parts and cut your food to pieces of suf-
ficient size (approx. 2-3 cm / 1 inch; see: ‘Tips for Best Results’). Defrost frozen
food, before grilling. Dab dry humid pieces of food via a kitchen towel.
2. Place the appliance on a suitable surface (see: ‘General Safety Instructions’),
near a suitable wall power outlet (see: ‘Important Safeguards for Electrical Appli-
ances’). Unwind the power cord completely.
3. Ensure that the underside of the grilling plate is completely clean and dry.
Place the grilling plate on the housing: The grilling plate must lie stably on the
housing without wobbling. There may be no gap between the aluminium top
plate of the housing and the grilling plate.
NOTE
You may install the grilling plate with the flat grilling area lying at the left side or
right side, just as you like. The control dial allocated to a particular grilling area is
always lying on the same side of the appliance as the grilling area.
4. Ensure that both control dials are turned OFF ("0" position) and the power switch
is switched to “O”. Ensure that the drip tray is installed correctly in the drawer,
and the drawer is pushed completely into the console of the appliance with the
front plate of the drawer levelling up with the console.
5. Connect the appliance to the power supply. If required, tie the power cord to a
leg of the table or counter via a separate cord (see: ‘Important Safeguards for
Electrical Appliances’).
6. Switch on the appliance via the power switch at the rear of the housing ("I" posi-
tion).
NOTE
As with most other electrical grilling devices, during the very first use, you may
notice some smoke and a slight burnt smell from the grilling plate. This is normal
and harmless. Ensure good ventilation during the very first heating (see: ‘Before
First Use’).
