The axle nuts and the brake anchor
plates of back pedal brakes must be cor
-
rectly fastened after each chain adjust-
ment process.
The chain may only be tightened once
the electrical system has been switched
off and the battery has been removed. If
the chain of your FLYER e-bike has fall
-
en off the chain ring or sprocket, it is es-
sential to switch off the electrical system
and remove the battery before placing
the chain back on the gear wheels.
Tightening the chain on a Tandem
If you own a FLYER Tandem, ensure
that the chain between the two lower
bearing brackets has the correct ten
-
sion. Only allow your FLYER specialist
retailer to adjust the chain of your FLYER
Tandem.
Switch off the system and remove the battery.
Turn the crank set into the position where the ten
-
sion of the chain is greatest or where the chain
sag is least.
In this position, you should be able to move the
chain 2 to 3 cm freely, without forcing.

If the tension of the chain is too high or too low,
the xture of the bottom bracket eccentric loos
-
ens.
In your FLYER Tandem, the eccentric is clamped
internally. The xture is administered using an Al
-
len key screw from the side.
Only loosen this screw with two or three
turns anti-clockwise - do not completely
unscrew it.
Use a pin spanner to turn the eccentric until the
correct chain tension is achieved.
The eccentric can be turned to the left or
right to achieve the correct chain ten
-
sion. The crank is not attached in the
middle of the eccentric. Rotating the ec
-
centric therefore changes the crank po-
sition and the seat height. After the chain
tensioning process, the centre of the
lower bracket bearing should be above
the middle line of the eccentric when a
lower seat height or additional ground
clearance is required. The crank position
is then shifted upwards. It is normally
recommended to turn the eccentric in
the opposite direction, so that the centre
of the lower bracket bearing is below the
middle line of the eccentric once the
chain tensioning process has been com
-
pleted.
