Custom heart rate zones
Instead of using the default heart rate zones you can configure a custom zone.
When your heart rate is above or below your custom zone you’ll see an outline of a
heart, and when your heart rate is in your custom zone you’ll see a solid heart.
To set a custom heart rate zone using the Fitbit.com dashboard:
1. Log in to Fitbit.com.
2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard and select
Settings.
3. Using the navigation tabs on the left, find Heart Rate Zones and specify the
minimum and maximum heart rate for your custom zone.
4. Sync your Surge to update your tracker with the new setting:
a. Click the Fitbit Connect icon located near the date and time on your
computer.
b. With your Surge nearby click Sync Now.
At any time you can check your dashboard to see the amount of time you’ve spent in
your custom zone.

Missing Signal
Surge continuously monitors your heart rate while you’re exercising and throughout
the day. However, occasionally the heart rate monitor may have difficulty finding a
good enough signal to show a hear rate. In those cases, you’ll see this screen:
If you’re not getting a heart rate signal, first make sure you’re wearing your Surge
correctly, either moving it higher or lower on your wrist or tightening or loosening
the band. After a short wait, you should see your heart rate again. If a heart rate
signal is still not found, check your Heart Rate Tracking setting; see “Managing
settings on your Fitbit Surge” on page 28 for more information.
