Adjusting
the
ruler
Open the screws
(15.1,
15.2) to adjust the two rulers
(Order No.
489679,
available from 08/99)
so
that
the
O-point
on
the scales
is
exactiy
in
li
ne
with the
cutting line
(15.3).
8 Use
as
a
trim
saw
(cross
cuts)
The drawgear
is
released by a slight pressure from
above on
the
handle (4.1). The saw can now be pul-
led forwards with one hand whilst the workpiece is
lifted with the other hand. Always place the work-
piece against a stop (see Chapter
10)
If
used
as
a
trim saw the protective cover must always be fitted
so
that the saw blade
is
always covered. The protec-
tive cover should hereby
be
lowered onto the work-
piece.
Concealed cuts, e.g. notches or grooves (Fig.
16)
are exceptions which are carried out without the pro-
tective
cover.
For the portable circular saw's original
riving knife
in
place of the protective cover for con-
cealed cuts. The protective cover must be replaced
immediatelyon completion of such work.
9 Use as a
bench
saw
(longitudinal
cuts)
Lock connecting
rod
in rear position. The saw is now
in
position for use as a bench (Fig. 17). The work-
piece must
be
guided along a longitudinal stop (see
section
10.3) during longitudinal cuts.
10
Limit
stop
system
A correctly set limit stop is
an
important precondition
for safe working with the saw. The versatile "Basis
WRA
500" mitre fence can be used as a transverse
stop, longitudinal stop or stop for
bevelled cuts. War-
ning: make sure that
all rotary knobs on the mire
fence are tight before starting work.
The "Basis WRA
500" mire lence can be mounted
on
all
lour
sides of the saw table
as
shown in illustra-
tion
18.
It
is ciamped in
pi
ace with the two rotary
knobs
(18.2).
The complete angle unit can
be
moved
in
a cros-
swise direction after releasing the rotary knob
(18.1).
10.1
Moving
the
mitre
fence
After the rotary knob (19.3) has been released the
mitre fence
(19.4) can be shifted along the angle unit
and optionally ciamped with a higher (Fig.
19) or
lower guide surlace (Fig.
17). Adjust the mitre fence
for cross and longitudinal cuts so that the max. gap
to the saw blade is
10 mm.
10,2
Angular
adjustment
for bevelied
cuts
After releasing the rotary knob (19.2) and pulling out
the locking pin
(19.1) any angle can be set between
-90°
and +90°. The locking pin can be notched
in
place for common angle settings.
10.3
Longitudinal
stop
Fitthe mire fence
as
shown
in
Fig. 17 for longitudinal
cuts. Alternatively, the "Basis
LA
650" longitudinal
stop
(20.1, Order No.
489675),
available as
an
extra, can also
be
used. Make sure that the gap bet-
ween the stop rai! and saw blade does not diminish
towards the back. Otherwise there is a risk that that
cut. -oft parts of the workpiece may become jammed
between the saw blade and stop rai!.
Set the stop
rail
to
the lower setting and use
the
enclosed guide handle (17.1) when sawing workpie·
ces narrower than 120 mm.
11
Chan
ging

saw
blade
Always wear safety gloves when chan ging saw bla·
des (risk
of

on
teeth) Remove the portable
saw circular
to
change the saw blade (see section
5). The further steps are described
in
the operating
instructions for the portable circular saw
..

Connection
of
a
dust
extractor
The optional dust extractor set (Order No.
488292)
allows you
to
connect the "Basis 1

"Palias 50"
Basis·Set

a Festool dust extractor. The dust
extractor set permits the simultaneous extraction
01
dusts and chips from the portable circular saw
