b. When using the hammer drill wear safety goggles, a dust mask, and hearing protection.
Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing damage.
c. Always use the supplied auxiliary handgrip. Inadequate control over the device can result
in injury.
d. Do not leave running power tools unattended. Always switch off the device and only put it
down or leave it after it has come to a complete standstill.
e. Long hair must be covered. Wear tight-fitting clothing when working with the hammer drill.
f. Attention when drilling into walls: Damage to power lines, gas lines, or water lines can
cause hazardous situations! Use suitable detectors to determine whether concealed lines
are present in the work area.
g. Always check that the mains voltage agrees with the voltage specified on the type plate.
h. Do not process any materials that contain asbestos.
i. Secure the masonry that you are processing; use suitable clamping fixtures or a vice for
your workpiece. Aworkpiece is only secure when it is securely clamped in the vice.
j. Use of extension leads. Only use approved extension leads that are suitable for the power
rating of the machine. Conductor cross section must be at least 1,5 mmÇ. When using a
reel extension lead always ensure that the lead is completely unrolled.
k. Always unplug the power plug prior to changing bits or accessories.
l. Always remove the chuck key from the chuck. Never run the machine with the chuck key
inserted. Always keep the chuck key in the holder provided for this purpose on the device,
near the power cord inlet.
m. Always wait until the machine comes to a standstill before changing over to hammering,
drilling, or chipping.
n. Caution, bits can become very hot.
o. Prior to starting work ensure that the front selection switch and handle selection switch are
fully engaged. Do not operate the hammer drill with selection switches in mid position.
3. ASSEMBLY
Inserting or changing tools (hammer drill or chisels) with SDS-10 shaft
Fig. B
Unplug the device before changing tools.
Inserting
1. Pull the clamping ring all the way back and hold it firmly in this position.
2. Pull the clamping head forward – usually this is not necessary.
3. Insert the tool in the taper shaft.
4. Turn slightly to the right if necessary.
5. Release the clamping ring – it will move forward with spring power. Ensure that the tool is
firmly clamped.
Important note: For new machines and for new bits it may the case that insertion and removal
is somewhat difficult and notchy. Do not become impatient – with a little practice you will
succeed in inserting and removing tools. Lightly oil the bit shaft before you insert it in the chuck.
