BatterIeS
The only auxiliary battery that can be used
is a sealed (maintenance-free) battery. If a
non AGM lead battery is used, connect the
pipe to expel the vapours generated during
recharging outside.
IMPORTANT Check that the battery charger
is set correctly for the battery type.
The uid level does not need to be checked
on maintenance-free” batteries. Do not try
and open the cover on sealed” batteries.
When you are not planning to use your vehicle for a
long period, disconnect the auxiliary battery using the
master battery switch.
If the auxiliary battery has to be removed
from its housing for replacement, we sug-
gest you contact an ELNAGH authorised
dealer or a SEA Service authorised work-
shop.
Follow the maintenance instructions and the warnings
from the manufacturer of the battery carefully.
If the battery is completely run down, recharge it for at
least 10 hours. If the vehicle is not used for a long pe-
riod, it is advisable to recharge the battery completely
every four months.
If a battery is left discharged for more than
six months, it will be irreparably damaged
and will permanently lose its capacity to be
recharged.
If the ambient temperature is hot (more than 30 °C)
then the auxiliary battery, like the vehicle battery,
becomes run down more quickly. At a temperature
of 20°C the battery loses about 2% of its charge per
month, whilst at 40°C this gure can reach 15-20%.
If the ambient temperature is very cold, the auxiliary
battery, like the vehicle battery, suers a loss of capacity
and may require more frequent recharging operations.
Before setting o on a journey it is advisa-
ble to check that the vehicle battery and the
auxiliary battery are properly charged. If
the vehicle is parked for long periods dur-
ing the trip, when possible connect to the
220 V mains to restore the auxiliary battery
charge level.
The correct measurement of the battery charge level
can only be taken four hours after recharging is over.
Before the check, disconnect the external supply lead
from the 220 V mains and switch o all the lights and
the electrical appliances.
Press the test button on the control unit. The voltage
must not be 12.5 V lower than the value indicated di-
rectly on the display.
If one or both batteries are run down, it is advisable
to recharge them completely before setting o. Charge
the battery 48 hours before starting o and 48 hours
after.
If the battery is run down, it will take about 12 hours of
recharging to reach 12.5 V.
fuSeS
When a blown fuse has to be replaced, switch o the ap-
pliance concerned using the switch and use a new fuse of
the same type as the original one, making sure that it has
the correct rating (same colour as the broken fuse). Always
check the origin of the fault.
auxiliary battery maintenance
Suitable maintenance prolongs the life of the battery and
makes sure that it is always in a position to supply the en-
ergy required.
The auxiliary battery is housed in the driv-
ing cab under the passenger's seat accord-
ing to the models of in the right dinette seat
(see page 50). To access the battery for
maintenance operations or to replace it,
contact an ELNAGH authorised dealer or a
SEA Service authorised workshop.
routIne maIntenance (to Be carrIed out once a
month)
Check the tightening of the battery connection termi-
nals.
Check the battery charge status using the test button
in the control unit control panel.
When necessary, restore the battery charge by con-
necting the lead to the 220 V mains: the battery charg-
er is activated automatically. The supply lead can be left
connected to the 220 V mains for a long time.
