1 VOLUME
The sound volume of the subwoofer can be set using the parameter “Volume”.
This setting should, in conjunction with the volume of the other loudspeakers in
your HiFi or surround system, produce a well-adjusted sound balance. In
general, the subwoofer should be set so that it does not predominate. The sound quality very quickly becomes
fuzzy with too high a bass fraction.
To set the volume of the subwoofer, go in the rotation menu with one of the outer arrow keys to select “Volume”.
By pressing the selector key in the middle, you arrive at volume selection. Now select the required volume with
one of the outer arrow keys and return to the rotation menu by pressing the selector key. Your selected volume
will now be shown.
2 CROSSOVER
The upper boundary frequency of the sound range that the subwoofer should
reproduce is set by the parameter “Crossover”. Sound signals above this
boundary frequency are increasingly damped by the subwoofer, i.e. no longer
transmitted in the audible range. The setting of this boundary frequency depends on the one hand on the
respective loudspeaker configuration, and on the other, however, on its placement and on personal taste.
The following table is thus only intended to provide a rough guide for settings.
Loudspeaker configuration Transition frequency at ELAC Sub
Surround system with LFE channel Max
HiFi stereo system with small loudspeakers 80 Hz Max
Satellite subwoofer system (stereo) 80 Hz – 101 Hz
HiFi stereo system with large shelf cabinets, small
standalone speakers (as with most ELAC speak-
ers)
50 Hz – 80 Hz
To adjust the crossover frequency, go in the rotation menu with one of the outer arrow keys to select “Crossover”.
By pressing the selector key in the middle, you arrive at frequency selection. Now select the required crossover
frequency with one of the outer arrow keys, and return to the rotation menu by pressing the selector key. Your se-
lected crossover frequency will now be shown.
