Taking the temperature
Taking the temperature in the ear:
To obtain an accurate reading, gently pull the ear back to straighten
the ear canal and snugly position the probe into the ear canal,
aiming towards the membrane of the eardrum.
Press and hold the “SCAN” button until you hear a beep sound.
Remove the probe from ear and read the temperature measurement
on the LCD.
Note:
• It is recommended that you measure the same ear 3 times. If the three
measurements are dierent, select the highest.
• To avoid the risk of cross contamination, please clean the probe
according to “Care and cleaning” section after each use.
• A healthy person can have dierent temperatures depending on
where the temperature is take. The variance can be between 0.2 - 1°C.
• Clinical repeatability: 0.23°C (<1 year old), 0.22°C (1~5 years old),
0.21°C (>5 years old)
When you get a new temperature reading in ear mode, the previous
reading will be shown on the screen at top right corner with the
icon for previous reading.
Taking the temperature at the forehead
The temporal artery is connected to the heart via the carotid artery. The
thermometer designed to measure the surface temperature around
temporal artery, a major artery of the head.
• Hold the thermometer to the required measurement location
on the forehead. (You can choose left or right temple.)
• Press the “SCAN” button, and gently scan the temple area.
While scanning, you will hear a beep sound, which indicates the
newest measurement is taking place. Measurement has been
completed after two short beeps are heard and the forehead icon
stops ashing.
The time needed for measurement can be between 5~8 sec
(up to 30 sec).
Note:
a. Forehead temperature is displayed in oral mode. This mode converts the forehead
temperature to display its “oral-equivalent” .
b. Before measurement, please avoide exercise and be still for 5mins. Do not bath for 30
mins. before measurement.
c. Remember to keep the temple area clean from sweat and cosmetics while taking
temperature.
