INSTALLATION
EXPANSION TANK
The expansion tank absorbs volumes accumulations of water once it is heated.
The closed expansion tank is a vessel with a membrane inside that can absorb up to a certain increase in volume of water.
The installer is responsible for properly sizing the closed expansion tank based on the water content.
The ¿ replace unit can be operated with a closed tank ONLY if one of the coils is connected to a heat discharge valve as shown in
the following diagrams.
The open expansion tank positioned above absorbs the variation in water volume and provides the hydraulic system with the pres-
sure necessary to prevent air from entering.
We recommend that it be placed at least 3 metres above the highest element of the circuit.
A lower position can cause frequent “backÀ ows” in the expansion tank with risks for the functioning and life of the ¿ replace unit,
so it is important that the installer carefully assess this height.
