Tips and tricks
This chapter contains useful tips and tricks for ironing.
This information is based on experience; the manufacturer and the
vendor can therefore not be held liable in this regard. Reading these
tips and tricks is no substitute for reading this user manual.
Basic tips
Take the laundry off of the clothes line while it is still damp or set your clothes
dryer to “iron dry”.
Fold the laundry so that it is smooth and iron it quickly.
Check whether the ironing temperature is suitable by testing the iron on a
concealed part of the clothing. This will ensure that you do not immediately ruin
the article of clothing if the operating temperature is set too high.
For blouses, shirts, trousers and dresses, iron the hard to reach areas on both
sides first:
button strips,
cuffs,
collar and
pockets.
Always iron the large areas last.
A sleeve board is very helpful when ironing blouses and shirts. This will help you
to also smooth hard-to-reach areas.
Iron evenly and not too quickly. Fast strokes while ironing may easily push the
fabric together and produce more creases rather than smoothing the existing
ones.
Hang the ironed textiles on a clothes hanger or clothes line before you hang
them in the closet. Laundry that has just been ironed wrinkles easily and should
therefore cool off.
Fabrics and temperatures
Generally, you should observe the information provided by the care labels of the
textiles you intend to iron. Certain materials such as fabrics containing synthetic
fibres, silk and wool may not be ironed at all or only at low temperatures.
When selecting the operating temperature, refer to the table defining the heat
settings (see chapter “Heat settings”). Keep in mind that the sensitivity of some
fabric types may change due to chemical modifications such as a fi nish or
impregnation.
