Cleaning

Tips and care products for maintaining the soleplate are available in
specialist shops.
Initiating the self-cleaning process
During the self-cleaning process e.g. calcification deposits, dust and small dirt
particles are removed from the tank and soleplate.
For average use, you should initiate the self-cleaning function of the
iron once a month or, if used frequently, every two weeks.
You should carry this out when the self-cleaning symbol repeatedly
blinks in the display at the latest.
To initiate the iron’s self-cleaning function:
1. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
2. Let the iron cool down completely.
3. Fill the tank 6 to the max. fill mark 7 (see chapter “Filling the tank).
4. Insert the mains plug in a suitable socket with an earthing contact.
5. Turn the steam control dial 5 all the way to the position.
6. Set the heat to 11 (see chapter “Setting the heat).
7. Pull the plug out of the socket as soon as the acoustic signal is heard indicating
that the operating temperature has been reached.
8. Hold the iron over a sink or over an absorbent cloth.
9. Turn the steam control dial in an anti-clockwise direction all the way to the
position.
Water and steam will now be emitted from the openings in the soleplate.
10. Tilt the iron to remove all deposits in the tank and flush them out.
11. After approx. 10 seconds, turn the steam control dial all the way to the position.
12. Repeat steps 4 to 11 if there are still deposits in the tank.
13. Place the iron on the heel rest 4 and let it cool down completely.
You have successfully completed the self-cleaning process.
Once the self-cleaning process is complete, iron an old, but clean towel
first. There may still be some particles of dirt under the soleplate.
