6 Troubleshooting
6 Troubleshooting
6.1 Before you send in the appliance
Before contacting your authorised Royal dealer, Royal service partner or appliance market, first follow the procedure in the following table to check if you
can handle the problem yourself
6.2 Accessories/Spare Parts

6.3 Disposal
When the appliance, especially the batteries, have reached the end of their service life or when dysfunctions
recur, disable the appliance by removing the batteries.
6.4 Removing the batteries
1. Run the appliance until the batteries are completely empty and the motor stops.
2. Loosen the 6 screws of the motor unit with a Philips screwdriver (fig. 20).
3. Remove the cover.
4. Take the exhausted batteries out of the battery compartment.
5. Refit the cover and reinstall the 6 screws of the motor unit.
6. Give the appliance and the removed batteries to the respective separate disposal points, to your dealer or
directly to Royal appliance.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Never use a defective appliance! Switch off the appliance before starting trouble-shooting ZChapter 4, "Operation".
Problem Possible cause Solution
Charging indicator
does not light up.
The AC adapter is not properly connected to a socket. Connect the AC adapter to a socket, ZChapter 3.3, "Charging the batteries".
The socket does not carry current. Test the appliance on a socket you are sure is carrying current.
AC adapterpower cord is damaged. Have the AC adapter power cord replaced by Royal Appliance Customer
Services, address, ZPage 75, "International Service".
The appliance
suddenly stops
working or the
suction power is
suddenly reduced.
The batteries are empty. Recharge the batteries, ZChapter 3.3, "Charging the batteries"
The overheating protection has tripped (possibly due
to blocked suction channels, filters, or similar).
Switch the appliance off and pull the plug out of the socket. Eliminate the
cause of overheating (e.g. blocked suction channels, filters, etc.). Wait for
about 45 minutes. After the appliance has cooled off, you may switch it on
again.
The results are
unsatisfactory in
spite of the
appliance working
correctly.
The dust container is full. Empty / clean the dust container ZChapter 5.1, "Emptying and cleaning the
dust container".
Nozzle or suction channels are clogged. Remove the obstacle.
The filter is dirty. Clean the filters, ZChapter 5.2, "Cleaning permanent filter and motor
protection filter".
The roller brush cannot rotate freely.
Its movement may be blocked by hair, fringes, lint,
etc.
Carefully remove hair, lint, fringes and other foreign objects that might be
obstructing the movement of the rotating brush with a pair of scissors.
The appliance's
noise is unusually
loud.
Nozzle or suction channels are clogged. Remove the obstacle.
The roller brush cannot rotate freely.

Carefully remove hair, lint, fringes and other foreign objects that might be
obstructing the movement of the rotating brush with a pair of scissors.

Danger of pollution! The appliance contains batteries that must not disposed of in your domestic waste. Give
the appliance and the removed batteries to the respective separate disposal points, to your dealer or directly
to Royal appliance.
WARNING:
Danger of injury by improper handling of the batteries!
- Never short-circuit the batteries, i.e. never touch both poles simultaneously, especially with metal
objects.
- Never dismantle the batteries.
- Never expose the batteries to high temperatures.
- Improper handling can lead to liquid leaking from the batteries. This can cause skin irritations. Avoid any
contact with the fluid.
- If it becomes necessary to replace the batteries, contact a specialist dealer or Royal Appliance
Customer Services.
- Never exchange the batteries yourself, and by no means replace the batteries with batteries of a
different type.
