USER MANUAL
3. Taking into operation
3.1 For the first time
Prior to taking the fire into operation for the first time, please observe the following:
The outside of the fire must be clean. If necessary, clean it first with a duster. Contaminations on the fire such
as (building) dust, grit, residues of packaging material and stickers can result in odour and singing hazards or
burns in the paint of the glass pane.
Remove fingerprints from the glass pane with a window cleaning agent.
The paint of the fire has not yet hardened. Hardening will take place when burning the fire for the first time.
The paint will first become soft before it starts to harden. Until that moment the paint is easily damaged.
Hardening takes place with an unpleasant odour and the generation of white smoke, resulting from the
evaporation of volatile components. Burn the fire (see chapter 5) properly for a few hours so that the paint
really hardens.
The fire will only start to burn really well after it has been burning a few times. The first few times the glass
pane will steam up a little bit more due to the evaporation of various materials and the lower combustion
temperature. This lower temperature is caused by the fact that insufficient ash has been created.
!Tip
Touch up any damages to the paint before taking the fire into operation for the first time. This will prevent colour
variations.
!Tip
Do not touch the fire during hardening in order to prevent damaging the paint.
!Caution
Vent the room properly because of the evaporation of heat resistant paint.
!CAUTION
Remove pets from the room because of the released vapours when hardening the paint.
3.2 Fastening the cold (door) handle
If your appliance is provided with a stainless steel, detachable (door) handle (see Appendix 2, Fig. 2), you will also be
able to fasten it.
To do this proceed as follows:
Ø
Open the door.
Ø
Place the stainless steel handle in the correct position in the door (see Appendix 2, Fig. 2).
Ø
Rotate the (door) handle in such a way, that the head of the adjusting screw points in your direction.
Ø
Use an Allen key to fasten the adjusting screw (be careful, overtightening will cause breakage).
Now the (door) handle is locked to the door.
If you want to disassemble the (door) handle you should perform the above-mentioned steps in opposite order.
3.3 Protection
In order to prevent unsafe situations, you must carefully observe the following measures/instructions.
!CAUTION
The minimum distance between the fireplace/chimney pipes and combustible objects/materials stated on the
data plate should be taken into account;
Do not place combustible materials under the appliance;
Do not dry clothes, towels, etc. on or near the fire in order to prevent fire;
Avoid contact with a burning fire in order to prevent burns and/or clothes catching fire;
When operating the fire, always wear the supplied glove;
Do not leave children and persons who are unable to judge the consequences of their actions by themselves
near a burning fire;
Avoid working with solvents, glue, PUR foam, etc. in the room where the burning fire is installed.
3.4 Discolouration of walls and ceilings
A brown discolouration is annoying and it is a problem that is difficult to solve. Brown discolouration can be caused
by the combustion of dust as a result of the materials used, too little ventilation, smoking, the burning of candles,
oil lights, etc. Smoke from cigarettes and cigars contains tar substances that can be deposited on colder and/or
moist walls.
!Tip
These problems can be (partly) prevented by installing a good ventilation in the room where the fire is
installed.
Use as little candles and oil lights as possible and keep the taper as short as possible. Burning candles, oil
lights, cigarettes, cigars, etc. creates a considerable amount of contaminating soot and tar particles in your
house.
