ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
injury, turn unit off and disconnect
machine from power source before
installing and removing accessories,
before adjusting or changing set-
ups or when making repairs. Be sure
the switch is in the OFF position. An
accidental start-up can cause injury.
Unpacking the Machine and its Parts
1. Carefully lift the machine out of its package.
2. Take out the accessories and hardware parts.
Required and Recommended Tools
Apart from the tools included with the machine, the
following tools are required:
–Torque wrench
Mounting the Machine to the
Workbench (fi g. 2)
The machine must be mounted onto the
workbench.
1. Mark the position of the four mounting holes
provided in the base of the machine on the
workbench.
2. Drill a Ø 6.5 mm hole at each of the marked
positions.
3. Place the machine on the workbench and insert
an M6 bolt with a washer through the mounting
holes in the base into each of the holes drilled in
the workbench. Make sure the protruding length
X (see figure) is at least 15 mm for each of the
bolts used.
4. Place a nut on each of the bolts and securely
tighten the nuts (torque: 8 Nm).
Changing the Grinding Wheel
(fi g. 3, 4)
1. Remove the three nuts (g) using the spanner
supplied.
2. Remove the guard cover (h).
3. Remove the nut (i) from the spindle (j) using the
spanner supplied. The nut on the right spindle
has a right thread (fig. 3), the nut on the left
spindle a left thread (fig. 4).
4. Take the outer flange (k), the packing piece (l)
and the wheel (m) from the spindle.
5. Place the new wheel onto the spindle.
6. Replace the packing piece, the outer flange and
the nut on the spindle.
7. Securely tighten the nut (i) (torque: 6 Nm).
8. Replace the guard cover.
9. Replace the three nuts (g) and securely tighten
them (torque: 5 Nm).
10. Switch on the machine and let the wheel run
with no load for one minute to check for cracks.
WARNING: Do not use a damaged
wheel.
Mounting the spark guard
(fi g. 5, 6)
The spark guard offers additional protection from
sparks and should be used whenever possible. A
spark guard is supplied for each wheel.
1. Fit the transparent screen (n) to the spark guard
(f) by inserting a mushroom head bolt (o) into
the screen and the guard and placing a washer
(p) and nut (q) onto the bolt (fig. 5). Tighten the
nut.
2. Hold the spark guard against the edge on top
of the wheel case (r) as shown (fig. 6).
3. Insert a mushroom head bolt (s) into the guard
and the wheel case.
4. Place a washer (t) and nut (u) onto the bolt and
tighten the nut hand-tight.
5. Position the guard at a distance of approx. 2
mm from the wheel by sliding it towards the
wheel.
6. Securely tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Adjusting the workpiece support
(fi g. 7)
The workpiece support can be set according to the
workpiece and the desired grinding angle.
1. Slacken the nut holding the support (c).
2. Set the support to the desired position and
angle, making sure that the support is as close
to the wheel as possible.
3. Tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Mounting and adjusting the
clamping and grinding attachment
(fi g. 1, 8)
The clamping and grinding attachment is used to
hold the workpiece to the grinding wheel at a fixed
angle.
