Inserting and removing a bit
(fi g. 1, 4)
DW052, DW054, DW056
The tool uses 1/4" hex. drive system with locking
sleeve.
1. Pull the sleeve/tool holder (c) forward and
insert the bit into the sleeve as far as it will go.
Release the sleeve to secure the bit.
2. To remove the bit, pull sleeve forward and pull
the bit out firmly.
Fitting and removing sockets
(fi g. 1, 4)
DW053, DW055, DW057
The tool uses a 1/2" square drive system with detent
pin.
FITTING SOCKETS
1. Align the hole (j) in the side of the socket with
the detent pin (k) on the anvil.
2. Push the socket (l) onto the anvil/tool holder (c)
until it snaps into place. Tap it lightly if required.
REMOVING SOCKETS
Depress the detent pin (k) through the hole in the
socket and pull the socket off the anvil.
Forward/reverse slider (fi g. 3)
To select forward or reverse rotation, use the
forward/reverse slider (b) as shown (see arrows
on tool).
CAUTION: Always wait until the motor
has come to a complete stand still
before changing the direction of rotation.
The first time the tool is run after changing the
direction of rotation, a click may be heard on
start up.
Instructions for use
WARNING: Always observe the safety
instructions and applicable regulations.
Prior to operation, make sure your battery pack is
(fully) charged.
OPERATION
WARNING: Turn unit off and disconnect
battery pack before installing and
removing accessories, before adjusting
or when making repairs. Lock the trigger
switch when the tool is not in use and
when storing the tool.
Prior to operation
1. Depending on your tool, select the appropriate
bit or socket.
2. To run the tool, press the variable speed switch
(a). The pressure exerted on the variable speed
switch determines the tool speed.
3. To lock the tool in off position, move the
forward/reverse slider (b) to the central position.
To Operate
1. Select forward or reverse rotation using slider
(b).
2. Depending on the application, follow either of
the below instructions.
3. Press the variable speed switch (a).
4. After tightening, check torque with a torque
wrench.
Screwdriving
1. Place the tip of the driver bit in the screw head.
2. Keeping the tool in line with the screw, apply
forward pressure to the tool as it contacts the
work surface.
Nutsetting
1. Place the socket over the head of the bolt or
nut.
2. Hold the tool in line with the fastener.
Tightening time
This tool tightens most fasteners in few seconds.
The proper tightening time in relation to torque must
be determined by experience.
WARNING: Excessive tightening may
damage the tip of the driver bit and the
head of the screw.
Use only dedicated impact accessories with your
tool. Consult your dealer for further information on
the appropriate accessories.
