Maintenance
Your DEWALT Power Tool has been designed to
operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.
As a precaution regularly check for the following
conditions:
- leaks to the tank
- leaks to the oil system
- unusual noise or vibration to the running motor
Draining the tank (fig. D)
Before fitting an air hose or performing any
maintenance, or when putting the unit out of
operation, the tank must be drained.
Lift the unit to provide access to the drain valve.
Take hold of the drain valve lever (8) and slowly
rotate the lever so as to gradually bleed air from
the tank.
When the pressure is at 0.7 bar, turn the valve
into the fully open position.
Hold the unit at an angle of approx. 10° to
remove any moisture or dirt out of the tank.
Check whether the tank pressure gauge reads 0
bar to be sure the pressure is off the tank.
Close the drain valve.
Changing the pump oil (fig. C)
At first use, the pump oil must be changed after
50 hours of operation. Thereafter, the pump oil must
be changed every 200 hours or at least at a 3 month
interval.
Place a suitable container under the drain plug (9).
Remove the dipstick (6).
Remove the drain plug.
Allow ample time for the oil to drain. Hold the unit
at an angle of approx. 10° to help the oil flow
towards the drain plug.
After the oil has been drained, re-install the drain
plug.
Fill the reservoir.
Re-install the dipstick.
Checking the oil level (fig. E)
The oil level must be checked on a daily basis.
Remove the dipstick (6).
Wipe the oil off the dipstick.
Re-install the dipstick for a few seconds to have
the oil collect on the dipstick.
Remove the dipstick to check the oil level.
The oil level is correct if the collected oil is
between the markings (10).
If the oil level is below the lower marking,
add extra oil.
Checking the air filter (fig. C)
The air filter must be checked on a weekly basis.
After 200 hours the air filter must be replaced.
Remove the filter (11) from the pump head.
Separate the filter body into two halves.
