15. WATER SOFTENER FILTER

Certain models are tted with a water softener lter (C4). If this

is not the case with your model, you are recommended to pur-

chase one from De’Longhi Customer Services. To use the lter

correctly, follow the instructions below.

15.1 Installing the lter

1. Remove the lter (C4) from the packaging. The date indica-

tor disk varies according to the lter provided.

2. Turn the date indicator disk (g. 42) until the next 2

months of use are displayed.

Please note

The lter lasts about two months if the appliance is used nor-

mally. If the coee maker is left unused with the lter installed,

it will last a maximum of three weeks.

3. To activate the lter, run tap water through the hole in the

lter as shown in g. 42 until water comes out of the open-

ings at the side for more than a minute;

4. Extract the tank (A12)

from the appliance and

water tank and immerse

it completely for about

ten seconds, sloping it

and pressing it lightly to

enable the air bubbles to

escape (g. 44);

6. Insert the lter in the

lter housing (A13) and

press fully home (g. 45);

7. Close the tank with the lid (A11) (g. 46), then replace the

tank in the machine;

8. When you install the lter you must notify the appliance

of its presence.

9. Press (B2) to enter the "Settings" menu;

10. Press the scroll arrows (B3) or (B5) until

"Maintenance" is displayed, then press (B4);

11. Press the scroll arrows until "Install lter" is displayed, then

press ;

12. Press to conrm;

13. Place an empty container with a minimum capacity of 500

ml under the hot water/steam spout (E), then press

to start delivery;

14. The appliance starts delivering water;

15. After the ow of hot water stops, the appliance automati-

cally reverts to ready for use again.

The lter is now active and you can use the coee machine.

15.2 Replacingthe lter

Replace the lter (C4) when requested by the appliance. To

replace immediately, press (B4) and follow the instruc-

tions from point 8. To replace the lter later, press (B2).

The symbol appears on the display to remind you that the

lter needs replacing.
