Before Initial Use
Before you can use the device, you must:
• unpack the items supplied,
• clean the device.
Unpacking the Items Supplied
CAUTION!
❐ Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of suffocation!
Unpack all parts and check the items supplied to make sure they are complete (see the "Device
Overview" chapter); also check for transport damage. If you nd any damage to the compo-
nents, do not use them (!), but contact our customer service department (see the "Customer
Service" chapter).
Cleaning the Device
CAUTION!
❐ Before rst using the device, also note the instructions provided in the "Use" chapter.
❐ Before you rst clean it, also note the instructions in the "Cleaning" chapter.
❐ Do not use corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These could damage
the surface.
Before you rst use the device, we recommend that you let two to three full res-
ervoirs of water run through the coffee machine (without any coffee powder in the
lter) and the espresso machine (without any espresso powder in the portalter).
Also allow one reservoir full of water to run through the steam nozzle before you
rst froth up milk or heat up drinks using the steam nozzle.
1. Open the lter compartment by ipping up the water reservoir and lter compartment
cover.
2. Remove the coffee lter insert and the permanent lter. Clean the coffee lter insert, the
permanent lter and the glass pots with hot water and a little detergent if necessary.
3. Then dry the coffee lter insert, the permanent lter and the glass pots thoroughly.
4. Place the coffee lter insert and the permanent lter back into the coffee machine when
they are completely dry.
5. Remove the portalter by turning the handle of the portalter
to the left towards the open lock symbol.
