CAUTION:
Do not remove the appliance from the base without shutting it
off rst.
• Disconnect the power cord.
• Emptying the water container.
Operating the tea/coffee maker
1. Use the water kettle to boil water as described in chapter
“Operating the water kettle”.
2. Remove the lter. Measure the tea or coffee as desired and
add to the lter.
NOTE:
• You may also put tea bags into the lter.
• Use medium or coarse ground coffee.
3. Replace the lter in the tea/coffee maker. Make sure the
square notch in the attachment is aligned with the handle.
4. Take the water kettle from the base and carefully pour
the hot water into the tea/coffee maker. Only ll up to the
maximum mark (MAX). Check the water level indication on
the appliance for the current water level.
5. Tea: Leave the tea as indicated to steep and then enjoy.
Coffee: Wait 1-2 minutes and then enjoy your coffee.
Hotplate
You may keep the brewed tea/coffee warm by switching on the
hotplate underneath the tea/coffee maker.
• Set the switch on the base to “I” position to turn on the
hotplate. The indicator lamp of the switch will light up.
CAUTION: Danger of scalding!
The hotplate heats continuously, even if the tea/coffee maker
is not on the plate. Always switch off the hotplate if the tea/
coffee maker is not on the plate or if the tea/coffee maker is
empty.
Stop operation
• Make sure to set the switch on the base to the “0” position.
• Then disconnect the mains cable from the wall socket.
Cleaning
CAUTION:
• Always turn the device off before cleaning it and remove
the mains plug. Wait until the device has cooled down.
• Do not immerse the water kettle or base into water or
other liquids.
CAUTION:
• Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
Water kettle
• Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it
off with a cloth.
• Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
Water kettle lter
The spout is equipped with a permanent lter. Remove the lter
from the frame for cleaning.
1. Push the upper side of the lter slightly towards the spout.
Then pull the lter up.
2. Rinse the lter under running water. You may use a nylon
brush to facilitate cleaning.
3. Replace the lter and press down, until it locks into place.
Tea/coffee maker / lter
Clean the tea/coffee maker and lter as usual in soapy water.
Rinse with clear water afterwards. Dry the tea/coffee maker and
lter with a cloth.
Decalcication of the water kettle
• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on
the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance
is used.
• If the machine switches off before the water boils, it prob-
ably needs to be decalcied.
• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available
decalcication agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use
the quantities stated in the instructions.
NOTE:
After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times
(approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues.
Do not consume this water.
Troubleshooting
• It is not possible to switch the machine on.
Possible Cause:
The appliance has no power supply.
Remedy:
- Check the socket with another appliance.
- Plug in the mains plug correctly.
- Check the main circuit breaker.
Possible Cause:
The appliance is faulty.
Remedy:
Contact our service center or a specialist.
Possible Cause:
After being used without or with too little water the machine
has not cooled down sufciently.
Remedy:
Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.
