1. About this manual…
This manual is designed as a quick reference to help you, the Installer, with the
installation process for the IRIS Touch alarm dialler. For further information on the
installation of the IRIS 600 range dialler, refer to the IRIS Touch 600 Range Dialler
Installation Manual at http://www.chironsc.com.
2. Installing the IRIS Touch Dialler
The IRIS 600 range of diallers are designed for direct connection to the serial port/bus of
Texecom Premier range and Honeywell Galaxy panels.
Note: For installations using PIN alarm inputs see the PIN Alarms section in the IRIS
Touch 600 Range Dialler Installation Manual for additional information and for wiring to
relay outputs see the Relay Outputs section.
1. Secure the dialler within the enclosure using the self-adhesive feet.
2. Fit the Ethernet cable (cream) into the Ethernet output on the PCB [1] and connect
the other end into the local IP router or the Ethernet socket allocated by the client.
3. Connect the antenna to the PCB [2]. (Ethernet & GPRS only).
4. Fit the SIM card [3]. (Ethernet & GPRS only).
5. Connect the following to the alarm panel (note this provides power as well):
Galaxy data bus via the header [4] or the connector block [5].
Texecom via the serial header [6] to the selected Texecom Com port header. The
connector is straight through, pin 1 to pin 1, etc. The missing pin on the Texecom
header is pin 4.
6. Before configuration, position the antenna for optimum GSM signal strength
(see
Indicators below).
2.1 Indicators
The IRIS dialler has LED indicators [7] that have the following functions:
The LEDs have a secondary function that is to display GSM signal strength. This function
is activated by opening a special pin header [8]. The number of LEDs illuminated shows
the signal strength: all ‘Off’ is lowest, and five ‘On’ is maximum. It is recommended that
at least two should be ‘On’ for reliable operation.

GPRS On when GSM registered.
(Ethernet & GPRS only).
POLL On when successfully polling with Monitoring Centre.
Note: Flickers Off to show each poll.
SERIAL 0.2s On, 0.2s Off - to show not communicating with panel.
1.5s On, 1.5s Off - to show dialler not configured.
0.1s On, 0.9s Off - to show normal communications.
SYS Flashes 0.5s On, 0.5s Off - to show dialler operational.
