Troubleshooting

The optional RC-V100 Remote Controller’s ND filter indicator flashes.
- The ND filter mechanism may not be working properly. Consult a Canon Service Center.
Picture and Sound
The optional viewfinder does not turn on.
- Make sure the unit cable connecting the camera’s VIDEO terminal and the optional viewfinder’s VIDEO terminal is
correctly connected on both sides.
There is no image on an external monitor.
- The camera is not connected correctly to the external monitor. Make sure you are using the correct connection
(A 152).
- The video input on the external monitor is not set to the video terminal to which you connected the camera. Select the
correct video input.
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to an SDI OUT terminal.
- Set [System Setup] > [Term. Output Setup] > [SDI OUT Output] to [On].
- Check that the external monitor’s settings match the configuration of the output signal selected on the camera
(A 149).
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to a MON. terminal.
- Set [System Setup] > [Term. Output Setup] > [MON. Output] to an option other than [Off].
- Check that the external monitor’s settings match the configuration of the output signal selected on the camera
(A 149).
There is no picture or sound from an external monitor connected to the HDMI OUT terminal.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable and then restore the connection or turn the camera off and then on again.
- When output from the MON. terminals is enabled ( [System Setup] > [Term. Output Setup] > [MON. Output]
is set to an option other than [Off]), if the monitor is not compatible with the video output configuration, output from the
HDMI OUT terminal will be turned off. Set [MON. Output] to [Off] or connect a monitor compatible with the HDMI OUT
terminal’s video output configuration.
The peaking/magnification/zebra pattern/waveform monitor/onscreen markers/false color display/B&W image does
not appear on the monitoring screen, or the anamorphic desqueeze/LUT is not applied to it.
- Check that display of the desired assistance function is enabled on the screen used with the corresponding output
settings.
- If output of the camera’s onscreen displays is not enabled for the terminal used, enable it (A 154).
HDR video output to external monitors appears brighter now than before updating the firmware.
- With the current firmware version, the camera follows the ITU-R BT.2408 report’s recommendations regarding
reference brightness levels for HDR output. The recordings themselves have not been changed.
Screen displays turn on and off repeatedly.
- The input voltage of the battery or power source connected to the DC IN 12V terminal is too low. Check the power
source.
- Excess current to the lens has been detected. Remove the lens. Clean the contacts on the lens mount and lens and
reattach the lens.
Abnormal characters appear on the monitoring screen and the camera does not operate properly.
- Disconnect the power source and reconnect it after a short time. If the problem still persists, use the [System
Setup] > [Reset] > [All Settings] function. This resets all the camera’s settings to default values, except for the hour
meter.
Noise artifacts (vertical stripes) appear on the screen.
- This may occur when the camera is used in high temperature conditions. Adjusting the black balance (A 54) may
help in such cases.
Video noise appears on the monitoring screen.
- Keep a distance between the camera and devices that emit strong electromagnetic fields such as near powerful
magnets and motors, MRI machines or high-voltage power lines.
Z[qr
Horizontal bands appear on the monitoring screen.
- This is a phenomenon typical of CMOS image sensors when recording under some types of fluorescent, mercury or
sodium lamps. This is not a malfunction. You may be able to reduce the symptoms by setting the shutter speed mode
to [Speed] and the shutter speed to a value matching the frequency of the local electrical system: 1/50* or 1/100 for
50 Hz systems, 1/60 or 1/120 for 60 Hz systems.
* May not be available depending on the frame rate.
