6) If the burner does not ignite after 4 or 5 attempts, wait
5 minutes and then repeat the process.
7) Once the burner is lit, there are two ways of lighting
another burner:
r Repeat the lighting operation described above;
r The second possibility is to simply open the second
valve by turning the adjustment lever to the high
position ( ). If the second burner does not light within
5 seconds, turn the corresponding control to the
"OFF" position (l) and consult the troubleshooting
table (see page 13).
IMPORTANT: If a burner does not light after several
attempts, check that the burner outlets or burner tubes are
not blocked and that the two electrical wires connected to
the ignition button are properly connected and not cut.
i) LIGHTING THE BARBECUE MANUALLY
- If the automatic ignition mechanism does not work, turn
the controls knobs to "OFF" (l).
- Remove the cooking grill to access the burner surface.
Open the adjustment lever to the HIGH position ( ).
- Wait approximately 5 seconds, then hold a lighted
match near the appropriate burner. Repeat the process
for the second burner.
- Open the second valve by turning the adjustment lever
to the high position ( ). If the second burner does not
light within 5 seconds, turn the corresponding control to
the "OFF" position (l) and consult the troubleshooting
table (see page 13).
- Put the cooking grill back.
j) EXTINGUISHING THE BARBECUE
Return the control knobs to the "OFF" position (l), then
close the cylinder valve.
k) REPLACING THE GAS CYLINDER
- Always work in a well ventilated area and never in the
presence of a flame, spark or heat source.
- Return the control knobs in the "OFF" position (l) then
close the cylinder valve.
- Remove the regulator, check that the sealing joint is in
good condition.
- Put the full cylinder in place, refit the regulator, taking
care not to twist to the hose. Check for gas leaks.
l) OPERATION
- It’s recommended that protective gloves be worn to
handle components which may be very hot.
- Put approx. 2 litres of water in the bottom of the tank to
allow easier cleaning and avoid grease ignition.
Before doing any cooking, the appliance should be
preheated for about 15 minutes with the control knob in
the FULL FLAME position ( ) and the lid closed. When
using the appliance for the first time, it should be
preheated for about 20 minutes in order to eliminate the
smell of paint on the new parts.
The cooking speed can be modulated by setting the
control knobs.
Temperature with lid closed :
- in FULL FLAME position ( ) with both burners lit,
approximately 280 °C,
- in LOW FLAME position ( ) with both burners lit,
approximately 200 °C,
- in FULL FLAME position ( ) with one burner lit,
approximately 180 °C,
- in LOW FLAME position ( ) with one burner lit,
approximately 120 °C.
IMPORTANT : If a burner flame goes out while the unit is
in use, immediately turn the control knobs to the “OFF”
(l) position, open the lid and wait 5 minutes to allow the
unburned gas to dissipate. Only attempt to light again
after this time period has elapsed.
m) CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Never modify the barbecue: any modification may prove
dangerous.
- After use, pull the bottom of the tank out of its housing,
empty out the water and clean using a sponge with
washing-up liquid.
- In order to maintain your barbecue in perfect operating
condition, it is recommended to clean it periodically
(after 4 or 5 uses).
- Wait until the barbecue has cooled down before
cleaning.
- Close the gas cylinder.
- The burner must be cleaned and checked every 3
months. Remove the entire burner and check that no
dirt or spider webs block the venturi tube openings,
which may cause the burner to be less efficient or cause
a dangerous gas fire outside the burner.
- Clean the orifices on the Venturi jet (see diagram below)
or the burner if necessary.
N.B.: Frequent cleaning of the burner maintains it in good
condition for many uses and prevents premature
oxidation, notably due to acid residue from cooking.
Oxidation of the grill burner is, however, normal.
- FIREBOX WALLS, LID, GRILLS, CONTROL PANEL
and BASE BOTTOM:
Clean these items periodically with a sponge and dish-
washing liquid. Do not use abrasive agents. Do not use
the grills in a self-cleaning oven as the excessively high
temperatures may damage the chrome-plated sections.
- HOOD GLASS
Clean periodically with a window cleaner or chimney
insert cleaner. In case of difficulty, remove the glass
from the hood and clean it with an oven cleaner.
- METAL SURFACES AROUND THE BURNERS
These metal parts are covered in aluminum. Never use
oven cleaners on them since this type of cleaner will
damage the aluminum.
- CERAMIC PARTS
The ceramic parts are active components of the burner.
They turn red when in use. Do not clean, wet or rub the
ceramic parts since this could damage them. If wet, dry
the ceramics before using the burners again.
n) STORAGE
- Close the gas cylinder valve after use.
- If you store your barbecue indoors, disconnect the gas
cylinder and store the cylinder outdoors.
- If you store your barbecue outdoors, it is recommended
that a protective cover be used.
- When not used for a long period of time, it is
recommended that the barbecue be stored in a dry,
sheltered place (eg: garage). Store the briquettes in a
dry place.
