D - OPERATION
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS :
Do not use the stove within 20 cm of a wall or
similar surface, or any combustible object.
Place the stove on a horizontal surface and never
move it while it is in operation.
In the event of a leak (smell of gas), close all val-
ves.
WHEN USING WITH THE GRILL:
ALWAYS CHECK THAT THERE IS WATER IN THE
WATER TANK.
NEVER USE THE HOTPLATE AT MAXIMUM RATE
( ).
NEVER LEAVE THE GRILL IN OPERATION
(CONTROL KNOB IN POSITION( )) WITH NO
FOOD BEING COOKED, FOR MORE THAN THE 2
TO 3 MINUTES PREHEATING PERIOD, AS THIS
MAY DAMAGE THE SPECIAL COATING ON THE
GRILL.
Wait for the stove to cool down completely before
handling it to return it to its place of storage.
After use, always close the valve on the regulator
or gas cylinder.
1) STOVE FUNCTION (see fig. 4)
- If the stove has been used as a Grill, remove the Grill
and water tank (check that they are cold).
- Extract the saucepan supports from their stowage
position (if necessary) and install them by engaging
them in the notches on the tray (figs. 5 and 6).
1) a - Lighting up:
- Open the gas supply (valve or lever on regulator).
- Present a flame close to the burner and turn the bur-
ner control knob anti-clockwise to position ( ).
- Adjust the flame to match the base of the dish or
receptacle being heated by turning the control knob
through the range between ( ) and ( ). Never
use receptacles with a base diameter
less than 16 cm or greater than 28 cm.
- If you want to correct the simmer temperature, adjust
the flame height by turning the knob in the range bet-
ween ( ) and ().
- In a strong wind, turn the stove so that the back panel
or (for models with the Plus and Extra windshield)
windshield facing the wind, so that the wind cannot
blow the burner flame away from the base of the
receptacle (saucepan).
- When cooking is finished, turn the burner control
knob clockwise to position ()
2) GRILL FUNCTION (see figs. 7-10)
- If the unit has been used as a stove: remove the sau-
cepan supports from both burners (check that they
are cold) and stow them (see fig. 6).
- Position the water tray and unfold the grill supports
on each side (see fig.7)
- Pour approximately 1 litre of water into the tray: refer
to the " MAXI" mark, fig. 8
- Open the gas supply (valve or lever on the regulator).
Connecting the hose: to connect the hose to the stove
union, tighten the hose nut firmly, but without excessive
force, using the two appropriate wrenches:
- 14 mm wrench to tighten the stove inlet union
- 17 mm wrench to tighten the hose wrench
Connect the other end onto the regulator outlet union.
- A gas-tight seal should be checked as described in
Section C).
C - CONNECTING THE GAS CYLINDER
If replacing an empty cylinder, read Section E):
"Removing or changing the gas cylinder".
When installing or removing a gas cylinder, always
operate in an open, well-ventilated place, never in the
presence of a flame, spark or any other source of heat
(cigarette, electrical appliance, etc.), and away from
other persons or inflammable materials.
- Place the gas cylinder on the ground, behind or next
to the stove.
- Close the tap on the regulator or gas cylinder.
- Screw or push the regulator onto the cylinder or onto
the valve on the gas cylinder.
- Close the valves on the stove by turning the control
knobs clockwise, position ().
- Check that the flexible hose or hose is in place nor-
mally, with no torsion or traction.
- Check that the air holes in the burner tube, close to
the injector, are not obstructed by dust or cobwebs.
Gas leaks
Do not check for leaks using a flame. Use a gas
leak detecting liquid.
- Apply gas leak detecting liquid to the cylinder/regula-
tor/hose/stove unions.
The adjustment control knobs should remain as set
().
- Open the gas supply (valve or lever on the regulator).
- Any gas leaks will be indicated by bubbles.
- Stop the leak by tightening the nuts. Replace any
defective parts. The stove must not be used until all
leaks have been eliminated.
- Close the valve on the gas cylinder.
Important:
An overall inspection and leaks check must be carried
out at least annually and always after changing the gas
cylinder.
