3.1.3.2 Freno a disco

In un pedelec con un freno a disco, il disco del
freno è avvitato fisso sul mozzo della ruota.
Tirandola, la leva del freno sviluppa la pressione
di frenatura. Attraverso il tubo del freno, il liquido
dei freni trasmette la pressione ai cilindri nella
pinza del freno. La forza frenante viene
amplificata dalla riduzione della sezione del tubo
e trasmessa alle guarnizioni del freno, i quali
frenano meccanicamente il disco del freno.
Tirando la leva del freno, le guarnizioni del freno
vengono premute sul disco del freno e la ruota
viene frenata fino all'arresto.

Il freno a contropedale arresta la ruota posteriore
quando il ciclista aziona i pedali in senso opposto
al verso in cui si muove la bicicletta.
La leva di bloccaggio del freno a pattino non reca scritte. Solo a
un rivenditore specializzato è consentito regolare la leva di
bloccaggio del freno a pattino
