4 Commissioning
4.1 Setting the coding card
When the coding card is in a valid position and communication is
established via the BUS system, the status indicator shines green
continuously. When the coding card is in an invalid or intermediate
position, the status indicator initially does not shine and then shines red.
4.2 System and module commissioning
4.2.1 Settings for systems with a cascade module in the BUS
system
1. Adjust control strategy with the coding card on the cascade module.
2. Set the coding card on other modules as applicable.
3. Switch on the power supply (mains voltage) to the entire system.
When the module indicator lights up green continuously:
4. Commission and set up the user interface as described in the
accompanying installation instructions.
5. Check the settings on the user interface for the cascade and adjust
them to the installed system if required.
4.2.2 Settings for systems with two or more cascade modules in
the BUS system
Up to 16 heat sources can be installed in one system. In such cases,
there is one higher level cascade module and 1 to 4 subordinate cascade
modules.
1. Adjust the control strategy with the coding card on the higher level
cascade module.
2. Set the coding card on the subordinate cascade modules to 10.
3. Set the coding card on other modules as applicable.
4. Switch on the heat source power supply.
5. Switch on the power supply for the modules and user interface.
6. Commission and set up the user interface as described in the
accompanying installation instructions.
7. Check the settings on the user interface for the cascade and adjust
them to the installed system if required.
4.3 Status display for the heat source/subordinate
cascade modules on the subordinate cascade module
In addition to the coding card, the module has 4 LEDs that indicate the
respective status of the connected heat source/modules.
LED 1, 2, 3 and 4 indicate the status of the heat sources/subordinate
cascade modules connected to the module:
off: disconnection or no communication
red: heat source found but connection interrupted or heat source
fault
yellow: heat source connected, no heat requirement
flashing yellow: heat source found, heat requirement exists, but
the burner is off
green: subordinate module found or heat source found, heat
requirement exists, burner is operating, heating active
flashing green: subordinate module found or heat source found,
heat requirement exists, burner is operating, DHW heating active
4.4 Status display for the heat source on the subordinate
cascade module
In addition to the coding card, the module has 4 LEDs that indicate the
respective status of the connected heat source/modules.
LED 1, 2, 3 and 4 indicate the status of the following on the heat
source:
off: disconnection or no communication
red: higher-level cascade module found or heat source found, but
connection interrupted or heat source fault
yellow: heat source connected, no heat requirement
flashing yellow: heat source found, heat requirement exists, but
the burner is off (for example when the standby period of the heat
source is active)
green: heat source found, heat requirement exists, burner is
operating, heating active
flashing green: heat source found, heat requirement exists,
burner is operating, DHW heating active
First make all electrical connections correctly and only then
carry out the commissioning!
Follow all installation instructions for all components and
assemblies in the system.
Only switch on the power supply when all modules are
set up.
NOTICE: Risk of damage to system through pump failure!
Fill and vent the system before switching it on so that
the pumps do not run dry.
If the coding card on a higher level module MC 400 is set to
10 and there is a direct BUS connection between a heat
source and this module, the system cannot be
commissioned.
If an IGM is installed, the following points must be observed:
At the IGM set the maximum and minimum output for the
connected device.
Set the maximum output to at least 5 kW, since
otherwise the IGM is not used by the cascade control.
If the connected device is a two-point device, set
maximum output = minimum output.
NOTICE: Risk of damage to system through pump failure!
Fill and vent the system before switching it on so that
the pumps do not run dry.
