Interac t ion of the eBike System wi t h the Bicycle Gears
The b i cyc l e gear s should b e us e d as w i th a norma l b i cycle ,
ev en w i th eB i k e mo t o r a s s i sta n c e (please ob se rve the ope r at-
in g in s t ructions of yo u r eBike ) .
Independent of the ty pe of ge aring, it is rec ommend ed to
briefly in t e rrupt the peda l i ng w hil e changing gea r s. This
makes changing gears easier an d re duces the w e ar of the
dr ive tr ai n .
By selecting the rig h t gear , y o u ca n incr ease the spee d and
r a nge w i th the sa me pe daling ef f o rt.
For this reason, foll ow the sh if t recommendations pr ovided
b y i n d i ca t i o ns g and h on your display. If ind i cation g is dis-
pl ay ed, y o u shoul d shif t to a hi gher gear with l o wer cadence.
If indica tion h is display e d, you should sel e ct a lower g e ar with
higher cad e nc e.
Switc h i n g bi ke li gh ts on/ o f f
In the mode l in which th e lighting is powe red b y the eBike sys-
tem, the fr ont and rear light s ca n b e s w i t c h e d o n a n d o f f a t t h e
same time v i a the on-boa rd c ompute r w i th b u tton 2 .
When th e ligh ti ng is swi t ch ed on “Lig hts on ” appe a r s and when
th e l i g h ti ng is s w it ched of f “Lights off” appears f o r approx. 1 s
in t e xt indi cati on d . The li g h t i ng sy mbol c i s di splay e d wh en the
li ght i s on.

Swi t ching the Pus h-a ssi stance mo de On/Of f
The pu sh-assis t ance feat ure ma kes it easier t o push t h e
e Bike . The spee d in this func tion de pen d s on the set gea r a nd
cannot exceed 6 km/h (max.). T h e lower the s e t gear , the low-
e r t he s p e e d i n t he p u s h- a s s i s t a nce f u nct i on (at f u ll ou tput).
The push-ass ista nce functi on may only be used when
pushi n g the eBike. Da nger of in jury whe n the whe e ls of
the eBike d o not have ground c ontact while usin g the push-
assist ance function.
To ac tivate the p us h -assist ance f u n c tion, br ief l y pr ess but-
ton “W ALK ” on yo ur on-boa rd c o mpute r . Afte r a ctivation ,
pr e s s b u tt on “+” within 3 s an d kee p it pr esse d. The eBike
drive i s switched on.
Note: The p u sh a s sistance can n ot be a c tiv a te d in the “O FF ”
as sistance l e vel.
The pu sh assist ance is s w it ch e d o ff a s s oo n as one of the fol-
lowin g o ccurs:
– y ou r e leas e butt on “+” 12 ,
– t he whe e ls of the eBike ar e b l oc ke d (e .g. by actuati n g the
br akes or impacting aga i n s t a n obstacle),
– t h e sp ee d ex ce e d s 6 km/ h .
Note: On some sys t ems the pu sh-a ssistan ce function ca n be
sta r te d d i re c t l y by pr e ssi n g th e “WALK” button .
Display s and configurations o f the on-board
computer
Speed and Di stance Indica tion
The s p e e d i n di cat i on f a l w a y s d i sp l a y s t h e c u r r e n t s p e e d .
T he follo w ing fun c ti o n s are available in the functio n indic a -
tion (comb i n a tion of te xt indic a ti o n d a n d value indic a tion e ):
– “Clock ”: Cu rre nt time
– “Max. speed ”: Maximum sp eed achie v ed sinc e the last
re set
– “Avg . sp eed”: Aver age spee d a chieved sin ce the last re set
– “T rip time”: Tr i p t i m e s i nce th e la st r e s e t
– “Range”: Es timated r a ng e of t h e available b a tte r y - p a ck
cha r ge (for c onstant con d iti o ns such as assistan ce level,
ro ute p r of ile, etc.)
– “Odometer” : Dis p l a y of the total distance t r avelled wit h
the eBi ke (cannot be reset)
– “ N u V i n ci C a d e n ce /G e a r ” : This m e nu it em is d i sp la ye d
only in conjunction with a Nu Vinci H |Sync automatic t r ans-
miss io n.
If y o u press the “i” bu tton for longer than 1 s , you will
a c c e s s t h e N u V i n c i m e n u i t e m f r o m a n y m e n u i t e m i n t h e
informa t ion menu.
To switch from the “ N u Vi n c i C a d en c e” mode to the
“ N u Vi n c i G ea r ” mode, press t h e “i” button for 1 s .
To switch from the “ N u Vi n c i G ea r ” m o de to the
“ N u Vi n c i C a d en c e” mod e , all you have to d o is brie fly
press t h e “i” button .
The def a u lt sett ing is “ N u Vi n c i C a d en c e” .
– “Gear”: This me nu item appears o n ly in conjunction with a
Shim a no Di2 g e a r hu b . T he c u r r e n t l y e n g a g e d g e a r of t he
trans m ission is shown on the dis p l a y . The newl y engaged
gear will be shown br ief l y on the display when ever the ge ar
is shif ted.
– “ G ea r : A u t o ” : T h i s me nu ite m app ear s o n ly in c o nj un c-
tion with an SRAM automatic tr ansmission.
By press in g the “i ” bu tt on for m o re th a n 1 s , you ca n
switch ba ck and forth be twe e n the “ G ea r : A u t o ” auto -
matic mode and the “ G e ar ” manual mode.

If you are in first gear in manual mode, you can also press
the “–” 11 button to go to the “ Gear: Aut o” mode. By
pressing the “–” 11 button again, you can switch back to
the manual mode. It is also possible to access the manual
mode by pressing the “+” 12 button.
–“Trip distance”: Distance covered si nce the last reset
To switch between display functions, press butt on “i” 1 on
the on-board computer or button “i” 10 on the operating unit
repeatedly until the required function is displayed.
To reset “Trip distance” , “Trip time” and “Avg. speed” ,
switch to any of the three functions and then press and hold
the “RESET” button 6 until the indication is set to zero. This
also resets the values of the other two functions.
To reset the “Max. speed” , switch to this function and then
press and hold the “RESET” button 6 until the indication is set
to zero.
To reset “Range” , switch to this func tion and then pr ess the
“RESET” 6 button until the display is r eset to the value of the
factory setting.
If the on-board computer is removed from the holder 4 , all val-
ues of the features are saved an d can still be displayed.
Displaying/Adapting Basic Settings
The basic sett ings can be disp layed and chan ged regardless
of whether the on-board computer is inserted in the holder 4
or not. Some settings are visible and changeable only when
the operating computer is inserted. Some menu items may be
missing depending on the equipment of your eBike.
To access th e basic sett ings menu, press and hold the
“RESET” but ton 6 and the “i” button 1 until “Configuration”
is displayed in text indication d.
To switch between the basic settings, press button “i” 1 on
the on-board computer re peatedly until the required basic
setting is displayed. If the on-board computer is inserted in
the holder 4 , you can also press button “i” 10 on the operat-
ing unit.
To change the basic settings, press the On/Off button 5 next
to indication “–” to red uc e or scr ol l down, or the lighting but-
ton 2 next to indica tion “+” to increase or scroll up.
If the on-board computer is in serted in the holder 4 , it is also
possible to change using buttons “–” 11 and “+” 12 on the
operating un it.
To exit the function and save a changed setting, press the
“RESET” button 6 for 3 s.
The following basic se ttings are available:
–“– Clock +”: The current time can be set here. Pressing
and holding the setting buttons fast-forwards the setting
speed.
–“– Wheel circum. +”: You can change this value pre-set by
the manufacturer by ± 5 %. This menu item is displayed on-
ly when the on-board computer is in the holder.
–“– English +”: You can change the language of the text indi-
cations. You can choose between German, English, French,
Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Dutch and Danish.
–“– Unit km/mi +”: The speed and distance can b e dis-
played either in kilometres or miles.
–“– Time format +”: The time can be displayed either in the
12 hour or 24 hour format.
–“– Shift recom. on/off +”: You can switch the indication
of a shift recommendation on and off.
–“Power-on hours”: Indicates the total travel dur ation with
the eBike (not changeable).
–“Gear calibration” (only NuVinci H|Sync): Here you can
calibrate the c ontinuously vari able transmis sion. Confirm
the calibra tion by pressin g the “Bike lights” button. Then
follow the instructions.
In the event of an error, it can also be necessary to perform
calibration when riding. In this case, you also confirm the
calibration by pressing the “Bike lights” but ton and then
follow the instructions on the disp lay.
This menu item is displayed only when the on-board com-
puter is in the holder.
–“– Start gear +”: The starting gear ca n be set here. The au-
tomatic shift-back function is switched off in the “––” posi-
tion. This menu item is displayed only in connection wi th
SRAM DD3 Pulse and Shimano Di2. This menu item is dis-
played only when the o n-board computer is in the holder.
–“Gear adjustment”: This menu item can be used to per-
form fine adjustment of the Shimano Di2. The pre-defined
adjustment range can be found in the operating instruc-
tions provided by the transmission manufacturer. Perform
fine adjustment as soon as you hear unusual sounds com-
ing from the transmission. This will prevent prematu re
wear of the tran smission and also avoid any imp airments in
gear shifting behaviour which could cause you to fall in ad-
verse situations. This menu item is displayed only in con-
junction with Shimano Di2. This menu item is displayed
only when the on-board computer is in the holder.
–“Displ. vx.x.x.x”: Thi s is t he so f tw a r e v er s i o n of th e di s p la y .
–“DU vx.x.x.x”: This is the software version of the drive
unit. This menu item is displayed only when the on-board
computer is in the holder.
–“DU # xxxxxx xxx”: This is the serial number of the drive
unit. This menu item is displayed only when the on-board
computer is in the holder.
–“ Service MM/YYYY”: This menu item is displayed
when the bike manufacturer has set a fixed service ap-
pointment.
–“ Serv. xx km/mi”: This menu item is displayed when
the bike manufacturer has set a fixed service appointment
after a certain mileage has been reached.
–“Bat. vx .x.x.x”: This is the software version of the battery
pack. This menu item is displayed only when the on-board
computer is in the holder.
–“1. Bat. vx.x.x.x”: When using 2 battery packs this is the
software version of one of the battery packs. This menu
item is displayed only when the on-board computer is in
the holder.
