The noise emission value given in these instructions has
been measured in accordance with a standardised measur-
ing procedure and may be used to compare power tools. It
may also be used for a preliminary estimation of noise emis-
sions.
The noise emission value given represents the main applica-
tions of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used
for other applications, with different application tools or is
poorly maintained, the noise emission value may differ. This
may significantly increase noise emissions over the total
working period.
To estimate noise emissions accurately, the times when the
tool is switched off, or when it is running but not actually be-
ing used, should also be taken into account. This may signi-
ficantly reduce noise emissions over the total working
period.
Assembly
uPull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
work on the power tool.
Use suitable screws to fix the power tool to the work-
bench/worktop with the four holes (7) provided for this
purpose.
Fitting the spark arrestor/workpiece support
(see figuresA−D)
Mount the spark arrestor holder (10) with the two
screws.
Screw the spark arrestor (11) to the spark arrestor
holder (10).
Mount the workpiece support (12) as shown in the figure.
uRegularly check the distance between the workpiece
support (12) or spark arrestor holder (11) and the
grinding wheel, and readjust as required. The distance
from the grinding wheel must not exceed 2mm. If the
distance is too great, you are not sufficiently protected
against sparking. The workpiece can be drawn in by the
rotational motion of the grinding wheel and can cause in-
juries.
uUse the power tool only with the spark arrestor (11)
fitted and swivel the spark arrestor down as far as
possible. Escaping sparks can injure your eyes or set fire
to surrounding objects.
uUse the power tool only with the workpiece support.
Do not mix up the right and left workpiece supports
(12). If you do, the distance between the workpiece sup-
port (12) and the grinding wheel will be too great. If the
distance is too great, you are not sufficiently protected
against sparking. The workpiece can be drawn in by the
rotational motion of the grinding wheel and can cause in-
juries.
Changing the grinding wheel
uThe rated speed of the accessory must be at least
equal to the maximum speed marked on the power
tool. Accessories running faster than their rated speed
can break and fly apart.
uGrinding wheels with a diameter that exceeds the spe-
cification on the power tool are not permitted.
uUse the power tool only with application tools that are
mounted on both spindles. This will prevent contact
with the rotating spindle.
Replace the grinding wheel when the spark arrestor holder
(10) can no longer be set to the required distance of max.
2mm from the grinding wheel.
Loosen the three screws from the cover (1) and remove
the cover. Hold the grinding spindle (5) with an open-
ended spanner (9) and unscrew the clamping nut (2)
from the grinding spindle (5).
Note: The grinding spindle (5) on the left side of the power
tool has a left-hand thread.
Remove the clamping flange (3) and the grinding wheel
from the grinding spindle (5).
Reverse the process to mount the new grinding wheel.
Firmly replace the cover (1) and tighten with the three
screws.
Dress used and non-circular grinding wheels with a whet-
stone (accessory) before continuing to use them.
uPull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
work on the power tool.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some
wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one’s
health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
uAvoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
easily ignite.
Operation
Starting Operation
uPay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230V can also be operated with 220V.
uAlways check abrasive tools before using them. The
abrasive tool must be fitted properly and be able to
move freely. Carry out a test run for at least one
minute with no load. Do not use abrasive tools that
