f When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and provide for a secure
stance. The power tool is guided more secure with
both hands.
f Wait until the machine has come to a standstill be-
fore placing it down.
f Other persons and animals should remain at a dis-
tance of 3 metres or more when the machine is be-
ing used. The operator is responsible for third per-
sons in the working area.
f Never grasp the blade of the hedgecutter.
f Children or persons unfamiliar with these instruc-
tions must not operate the hedgecutter. Local reg-
ulations may restrict the age of the operator.
f Never cut a hedge while people, especially children
or pets, are nearby.
f The operator or user is responsible for accidents or
hazards occurring to other people or their property.
f Do not operate the hedgecutter when barefoot or
wearing open sandals, always wear substantial
footwear and long trousers. The use of sturdy
gloves, non-skid footwear and safety glasses is rec-
ommended. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery
which can be caught in moving parts.
f Thoroughly inspect the area where the hedgecutter
is to be used and remove all wires and other foreign
objects.
f Prior to operation, check cutter blades, blade bolts
and cutter assembly for wear or damage. Do not op-
erate with a damaged or excessively worn cutting
device.
f Check cable for damage before starting work and
replace if necessary. Keep cable away from heat, oil
and sharp edges.
f Know how to stop the hedgecutter quickly in an
emergency.
f Cut a hedge only in daylight or in good artificial
light.
f Never operate the hedgecutter with defective
guards or without the guard in place.
f Always ensure all handles and guards supplied are
fitted when using the hedgecutter. Never attempt
to use an incomplete hedgecutter or one with an
unauthorised modification.
f Never hold the hedgecutter by the guard.
f While operating the hedgecutter always be sure of
a safe and secure operating position at all times, es-
pecially when using steps or a ladder.
f Always be aware of your surroundings and stay alert
for possible hazards that you may not hear whilst
operating the hedgecutter.
f Remove the plug from the socket:
– before checking, clearing a blockage or working
on the hedgecutter.
– after striking a foreign object, inspect the
hedgecutter for damage and make repairs as neces-
sary.
– if the hedgecutter starts to vibrate abnormally
check immediately.
f Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to ensure that
the hedgecutter is always in a safe working condi-
tion.
f The hedgecutter should be stored in a dry, high or
locked up place out of the reach of children.
f Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
f Do not attempt to repair the machine unless you are
qualified to do so.
f Ensure replacement parts fitted are Bosch ap-
proved.
Electrical Safety
f Warning! Switch off, remove plug from mains be-
fore adjusting, cleaning or if cable is cut, damaged
or entangled.
f The blades continue to move for a few seconds af-
ter the hedgecutter is switched off. Caution! Do
not touch the moving blades.
Your machine is double insulated for safety and re-
quires no earth connection. The operating voltage is
230 V AC, 50 Hz (for non-EU countries 220 V, 240 V as
applicable). Only use approved extension cables. Con-
tact your Bosch Service Centre for details.
Extension cords/leads should only be used if they
comply with H05VV-F or H05RN-F types.
It is recommended for increased electrical safety to
use a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a tripping
current of not more than 30 mA. Always check your
RCD every time you use it.
The connection lead must be inspected for signs of
damage at regular intervals and may only be used if in
perfect condition.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
a Bosch Service Centre.
For products not sold in GB:
WARNING: For your safety, it is required that the plug
attached to the machine is connected with the exten-
sion cord. The coupling of the extension cord must be
protected against splash water, be made of rubber or
coated with rubber. The extension cord must be used
with a cable strain relief.
Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted with
an BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal fuse
(ASTA approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it
should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its
place by an authorised customer service agent. The re-
placement plug should have the same fuse rating as
the original plug.
The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a pos-
sible shock hazard and should never be inserted into a
mains socket elsewhere.
Products sold in AUS and NZ only: Use a residual cur-
rent device (RCD) with a rated residual current of
30 mA or less.
Maintenance
f Always wear gardening gloves when handling or
working near the sharp blades.
f Examine the machine and replace worn or damaged
parts for safety.
f Always lubricate the cutting blade with protective
spray before and after use.
f Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure that
the machine is in safe working condition.
f Ensure replacement parts fitted are Bosch ap-
proved.
