Stationary or Flexible Mounting
uTo ensure safe handling, the power tool must be
mounted on a flat, stable work surface (e.g. work
bench) before use.
Mounting on a work surface (see figure C)
Use suitable screw fasteners to secure the power tool to
the work surface. Use the holes (6) to do this.
Mounting on a Bosch saw stand (see figure D)
Thanks to their height-adjustable legs, Bosch saw stands
(e.g. PTA 2400) provide firm support for the power tool on
any surface.
Use a suitable screwed connection to secure the power
tool to the saw stand.
uAssemble the saw stand properly before mounting the
power tool. Correct assembly is important to prevent the
risk of collapsing.
uRead all the warnings and instructions included with
the saw stand. Failure to observe the warnings and fol-
low instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
Dust/Chip Extraction
The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of
wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health.
Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac-
tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in
people in the near vicinity.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as
carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain-
ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists.
Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma-
terial wherever possible.
Provide good ventilation at the workplace.
It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask.
The regulations on the material being machined that apply in
the country of use must be observed.
uAvoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
easily ignite.
The dust/chip extraction system can be blocked by dust,
chips or fragments of the workpiece.
Switch the power tool off and pull the mains plug out of
the socket.
Wait until the saw blade has come to a complete stop.
Determine the cause of the blockage and eliminate it.
External Dust Extraction (see figureE)
Connect the dust extraction hose to the extraction
outlet(22).
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being
worked.
When extracting dry dust that is especially detrimental to
health or carcinogenic, use a special dust extractor.
Changing the Saw Blade
uPull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
work on the power tool.
uWhen fitting or changing the saw blade, wear protect-
ive gloves. Blades are sharp and can become hot when
used for prolonged periods of time.
uThe protective guard may become hot during pro-
longed use. Allow it to cool down before touching it.
uDo not pull on the chain and do not pull the chain off
the guide unit.
uAlways replace a complete saw blade with a complete
saw blade. The chain cannot be replaced on its own.
uUse only clean saw blades. Ensure that the SDS saw
blade receptacle is also free of chips and sawdust.
uChoose the saw blade suited to the material you want
to work on.
uMake sure that the bevel angle is set to 0°.
To fit the saw blade, it must be locked in the middle of the
saw table.
Push the locking mechanism (11) to the left and hold it
there. Pull the connecting rod (10) forwards until the
locking mechanism engages in the first set-up position.
Removing the saw blade (see figures F1−F2)
If necessary, loosen the screwed connections from the
holes (6) and position the saw on the left-hand side.
Use the lever (28) to open the cover (29) of the SDS saw
blade receptacle (33).
Ensure that the SDS saw blade receptacle is opened fully.
Remove the saw blade (3) to the left through the saw
table.
Inserting the Saw Blade (see figureF2)
Insert the saw blade as shown in the illustration. Make
sure that the recess in the saw blade is over the drive
shaft(32). The end of the saw blade must fit in the SDS
saw blade receptacle(33).
Close the cover(29) of the SDS saw blade
receptacle(33) and lock it using the locking lever for the
SDS saw blade receptacle(28) until you feel it click into
place.
The chain of the saw blade is automatically tensioned.
If the chain slips through or becomes detached from the
guide unit(31), open and close the cover(29) of the saw
blade receptacle(33) again.
Mount the saw back onto the work surface.
uMake sure that the guard works properly and that it
can move freely. Never lock the guard in place when
opened.
uThe holder for the protective guard must be aligned
with the saw blade in order to prevent the workpiece
from jamming.
