1.
Press the red safety button on the left
and open the lever (12).
2. Place the handlebars in the desired
position.
3. Close the lever until the safety catch
clicks audibly (13).
• It is not permitted to adjust your
handlebars when cycling.
• Check wether your handlebars are
rmly secured before going cycling.
If your handlebars become too loose
after regular use, you should have this
corrected by your Batavus dealer. He
can adjust the clamping force for you
in the correct manner.
• Never open the adjusting lever
without fi rst pressing the red safety
button.
• The Batavus Ergo Matic Plus adjus-
table steering pin was designed for
normal bicycle use. Mountain biking,
downhill racing and all other forms of
racing use ar not permitted.
• The mounting of a child’s seat on the
handlebars is not permitted.
• The fi tting of aluminium or triathlon
handlebars is not permitted.
• Improper use, such as forcing or disas-
sembling handlebar components is not
permitted, neither is modifying them
oneself.
• The maximum permissible static load
on the handlebars is 5 kg.
• A minimum of 7 cm must be inserted
into the frame tube in the case of both
the saddle and the steering pin! This
point is usually indicated with small
lines and a warning.
When applying corrections with the
steering pin, always check that when you
tighten things up again, the handlebars
are straight in relation to the wheel.
• And if you are working on the stee-
ring or saddle pin anyway, apply a little
acid-free vaseline to the part which is
in the frame; this will prevent the two
parts from corroding and seizing up in
the long term.
THE GRIPS
In order to be able to steer safely it
is important that the grips are fi rmly
xed.
Regular checks prevent trouble. Torn
grips can also cause accidents during
cycling so it is advisable to replace
them as soon as possible. Your Batavus
expert knows what to do here.
