3. DISTANCE
The distance is displayed in kilometers (km) and,
if not preset, counts upward from 0.5 to 99.50. If
the distance is preset, this function counts down to
0.00 km.
4. CALORIES
Just like for time or distance, calories can be
set to count up or down. A maximum of 9999
calories can be displayed per training session.
Note on measuring calories: In this unit, energy
consumption is calculated based on average
values. Only the revolutions are used to calculate
the values. However, as each person has different
capabilities for producing energy (known as
efficiency), the energy consumption displayed
can, by necessity, only be an approximation of
the actual consumption and cannot be used for
therapeutic purposes. The energy consumption
during a training session is displayed in kcal
(kilocalories). To convert this into joules, use this
formula:
1 kcal = 4.187 kJ.
5.PULSE PROGRAMS
a) Upper pulse limit
The desired upper pulse limit can be preset. A
range of 30 to 240 can be displayed. The input
uses increments of 1. If the upper limit is exceeded,
a signal sounds.
b) Pulse rate ranges
While training with pulse rates, the console C3utes
three pulse rate ranges (55/75/90%) in accordance
with your maximum pulse rate based on your
personal data.
c) Upper pulse limit
However, you can also enter a fixed upper pulse
rate (THR) In the case of b and c, the console
controls the resistance in accordance with your
actual pulse rate so that you achieve the desired %
range or you maintain the set pulse rate. Thus, if
your pulse rate is too low, the resistance (Level) is
increased until the value is correct -- and vice versa.
6. MANUAL PROGRAM
This program is provided for training using a fixed
resistance (Level 1 -- 16).
7. WATT
The work performed is constantly shown in
watts on the display (10 -- 350 watts). The input
uses increments of 10 watts. You can specify the
watts in the Manual program. Then, the console
automatically regulates of the resistance for
uniform performance as a function of the crank
rotational speed.
8. PROGRAM PROFILES
You may select from 12 different program profiles
shown on the display.
9. TRAINING INTENSITY
You can change the intensity (level) both before
and during training using the +/- buttons in the
Manual program and in the 12 profile programs.
10. USER PROGRAM
You can enter the personal data for four users
11. SCAN
In this mode, the speed and pedaling speed and
then the calories and watts are shown alternately
(every 6 seconds) in the lower portion of the
display.
12. PAUSE (STOP)
Training is interrupted for a maximum of 4
minutes by pressing the Start/Stop button. Pressing
the button again allows you to continue the
interrupted training session using the previous
data.
NOTES ON ADJUSTING THE RESISTANCE
(LEVEL)
1. MANUAL PROGRAM TRAINING
When training without specifying watts, the
resistance (Level) is entered using the +/- buttons
and remains the same during the training session.
If watts are specified, the console automatically
regulates the resistance. The resistance is adjusted
(Level 1--16) in accordance with the crank
rotational speed. Example: If the rotational speed
of the crank is too low, the resistance is increased.
Different symbols appear on the display so that the
resistance does not become excessively high and
your pedaling speed (rotational speed) is adjusted.
These symbols are to help you find the right
pedaling speed.
5 = Speed too high -- pedal slower
6 = Speed too low -- pedal faster
- - - = Calculation not possible
Check the specification in watts and your pedaling
speed. After 3 minutes, a signal sounds at these
