Connect the charger
Make sure that the required voltage for the charger matches the power in your house. The
voltage (max. 210 to 260 Volts) and the AC frequency (within 50 to 60 Hertz) of the power
source should be in line with the data on the charger plate (33), otherwise it may damage the
unit. The standard household voltage in Central Europe is 220 to 240 VAC.
Charger plug for frame and carrier battery
Plug the connector (31) of the power cable into the socket (30) on the charger and plug the
connector on the other end of the power cable to the power grid. Then plug the battery
connector (34) with respect to the contacts into the socket (35) of the battery.
Do not use force if you have contact problems with your charger. Check the plugs and contacts
and try it again; otherwise bring in the charger (incl. cables) to an ave. Bosch eBike Sevice.
Battery charging
Once the charger is connected with both, the battery and the power supply, the charging starts
automatically.
Note: The charging procedure is only possible, when the temperature of the battery pack is
within the allowable charging temperature range 0 °C until +40 °C. The battery is equipped with
a temperature monitoring sensor to protect the cells from damage.
During the charging procedure, the LEDs of the charge-control indicator (21) on the battery will
light up. Each continuously lit LED is equivalent to a charge capacity of approx. 20 %. The
flashing LED indicates a charging of the next 20 %. The battery pack is completely charged when
all five LEDs of indicator (21) light up continuously. The charge procedure ends automatically.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the charger is well ventilated while charging and the vents (32)
remain free on both sides. Also be careful when you touch the charger while charging.
Especially at higher ambient temperatures the charger will heat up considerably. Wear
protective gloves, if necessary.
A full charge of the 300 Wh battery takes about 2.5 hours, a 400 Wh battery charge takes an
hour longer. The battery can also be charged in parts; charging interrupts will not harm the
battery. It is recommended to recharge the battery after each trip.
