3 Commissioning
3.1 Before commissioning
NOTE! Before commissioning, it is essential that you read the safety information at
the beginning of this manual.
3.2 Check contents of pack
The following items are supplied:
Answering machine with permanently attached mains power supply and connection
cable
one Operating Manual
3.3 Fitting the battery (not included)
Before connecting your new answering machine to the telephone network, the battery
should be fitted. Please always use a new 9V alkaline block-type battery. The battery
is required for preventing loss of data if there should be a mains power failure. Before
installing or changing the battery, make sure that the answering machine is not
connected to the telephone network.
Note: When the message bL appears in the display, the battery is run down and
must be changed.
1. Make sure that the answering machine is not connected to the telephone
network.
2. The battery compartment is to be found on the underside of your answering
machine.
3. Open the battery compartment with a small screwdriver.
4. Connect the battery plug to the battery and place these in the battery
compartment.
5. Close the battery compartment.
3.4 Connecting the telephone cable and power supply
Connect the telephone cable to the TAE socket (coding N = for auxiliary equipment
such as answering machines / faxes). Plug the mains power supply into a correctly
installed 230V mains socket. When switching on for the first time, your new
answering machine needs a few seconds to initialise all the functions. After
initialisation, the display will show the message 00. If no battery has been fitted, this
alternates with the message bL.
As your answering machine saves the current day of the week and the time of day
with every message, the day and time announcement should now be set up as
described in the next chapter.
