6.3 CONNECTING THE BATTERY CHARGER
Caution: Make sure that the charger is
not connected to the power socket.
Always connect the red positive cable (+) of the charger
(Position 6 in the overview) to the positive terminal of
the battery rst. Then connect the black negative cable
(-) (Position 7 in the overview) to the negative terminal
of the battery. If you charge the battery in situ, connect
the black negative cable (-) to the car body (exposed
part), far away from the battery, the carburettor and fuel
lines. Always maintain this sequence. Now connect the
mains connection cable (Position 5 in the overview) to
a power socket.
Clean the battery terminals to remove dust and corrosion
residue.
Only for open batteries: Remove the plugs of the battery
cells. Check the liquid level in the cells, consult the ope-
rating instructions of your battery for more information.
Replenish only sucient distilled water to ensure that
the minimum lling level is achieved. The liquid will ex-
pand during the charging process and the battery may
overow. Leave the cells of the battery open until the end
of the charging process.
In case of closed and maintenance-free batteries, please
follow the instructions of the battery manufacturer to
the letter.
6.4 CHARGING THE BATTERY
6.4.1 SELECTING THE BATTERY TYPE
Press the selection switch for the battery type (Position 2
in the overview) several times to choose the correct
battery type. The dierent battery types are
toggled through in the following order: 6 V STD – 12 V
STD – 12 V AGM – 12 V Gel.
6.4.2 SELECTING THE DISPLAY
6.4.3 SELECTING THE CHARGING
MODE/JUMP START
Use the selection switch for the display (Position 3 in the
overview) to toggle the display from the current battery
voltage to the charge status in % (5% increments).
Use the selection switch for the charging mode (Posi-
tion 4 in the overview) to choose between the functions
SLOW (charge slowly), FAST (charge quickly) and START
(jump start).
Once the battery is fully charged the display shows FUL
(current battery voltage) or 100 in %.
6.5 REMOVING THE BATTERY CHARGER
6.6 JUMP START
Caution: First pull the plug out of the socket
and observe the sequence for disconnection.
This prevents sparks from forming. Since char-
ging generates a detonating gas, this is parti-
cularly important for the sake of your safety.
Before performing a jump start on your vehicle, read how
to carry out a jump start in your vehicles manual.
Switch o all electrical consumers in the vehicle (lights,
window heater, seat heating, etc.). Connect the device to
the vehicle battery as described in section 6.3. Use the
selection switch to choose the 12 V battery type appro-
priate for your vehicle. Position the selection switch for
charging mode/jump start to START.
Now start the vehicle’s engine. Do not operate the star-
ter for longer than 5 seconds. If the start attempt is not
successful, wait for at least three minutes before starting
the next attempt. After the third failed attempt, do not
attempt again. Instead, check your vehicle for faults.
Once the engine is running, remove the device as descri-
bed in section 6.5.
Disconnect the charger from the mains power supply.
Then disconnect the black clips (negative). Then remove the
battery clips from the positive terminal of the battery (red
clips).
Allow the battery to cool down. Only for open batteries:
Fill the cells with distilled water up to the level specied
by the battery manufacturer. Close the battery cells using
the caps.
